Teen testifies about rapes

SPRINGFIELD - A 16-year-old boy who was raped by a 67-year-old
Westfield man from the time he was 10 years old until he turned 14
told a Hampden Superior Court judge yesterday that he goes through
his
days trying to live as if nothing happened to him.
He said he tries to live "as if I wasn't a victim of a pedophile."
The
boy was in Judge Tina S. Page's courtroom with his parents as
Lawrence
Sherlaw pleaded guilty to five counts of statutory rape of a child
and
two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
Page sentenced Sherlaw to 6-7 years in state prison followed by 10
years of probation. Assistant District Attorney Michele S. Cruz had
asked for a total of 8-10 years in state prison followed by 10 years
of probation, and defense lawyer William T. Walsh Jr. had asked for a
three-year sentence followed by five years of probation.
