Abortion May Increase Women's Mortality Rate |

Naturally some of the extremist in here...flower

this off. They will not examine it, they will say it is propaganda. Fear
is what will cause them to examine it and be willing to explore the data.
This information is for those who are serious about the issue and are
willing to examine all sides before jumping to conclusions
A study published in the August edition of the Southern Medical Journal
reveals that women who have abortions are at significantly higher risk of
near and long term death than women who give birth. This contradicts the
widely accepted opinion that abortion is safer than childbirth.
Researchers examined death records linked to Medi-Cal payments for births
and abortions for approximately 173,000 low income Californian women. They
discovered that women who had abortions were almost twice as likely to die
in the following two years.

========================
What's to examine - POOR women do die at higher rates than rich and
middle-class women, abortion or no abortion. They have higher rates of
obesity, heart disease, have poorer diets, get substandard or no regular
medical care - all contribute to a higher death rate. Nice try. You lose.
From the anti-choice website:
"Researchers examined death records linked to Medi-Cal payments for births
and abortions for approximately 173,000 low income Californian women. They
discovered that women who had abortions were almost twice as likely to die
in the following two years. They also discovered that the elevated
mortality rate of aborting women persisted over at least eight years. Over
the eight year period studied, women who aborted had a 154 percent higher
risk of death from suicide, an 82 percent higher risk of death from
accidents, and a 44 percent higher risk of death from natural causes."

I guessed you missed the conclusion portion of that research paper. The
conclusion says:
"Higher death rates associated with abortion persist over time and
across socioeconomic boundaries. This may be explained by self-
destructive tendencies and other unhealthy behavior aggravated by
the abortion experience."
A reasonable interpretation of that conclusion is that those who are
prone to descructive tendencies tend to favor abortion more than those
who are not prone to such tendancies.
This is not a justification to end legal abortion, but it is
justification to make sure that those who consider abortion need
readily available, good quality counceling. Unfortunately, you
pro-liars do nothing to ensure the availability of such guidance
to troubled pregnant women.
Further, this paper uses a highly skewed method of selecting subjects
for the study. Medicaid recipients. What about those who have an
abortion, but do not qualify for Medicaid or need Medicaid's assistance?
This paper might be generalizable to poor women, but it is certainly
not generalizable to middle-class and wealthy women who opt for abortion.

I can't imagine how Osprey can apply this information to all women across
the board. These are the sickest, poorest, least healthy group of women
possible to look at for "general" statistics on death after abortion. It's
also known that this group of women (poor, uneducated, welfare) have the
highest death rates giving birth, their babies have lower birth weights and
a higher death rate. The women themselves die at higher rates from diabetes,
heart disease and high blood pressure, drug and alcohol usage etc.
Note how the anti-choicers like Osprey never mention these facts though.

Good enough for what? The study uses an interesting method for
selecting its research subjects, but the selection method makes
the study's ability to generalize to the entire population of
pregnant women nearly impossible because it considers only poor
women who need government assistance to pay their medical bills.

And everyone knows they suffer from more health problems than other groups

You don't consider research from a medical association good enough?
They are dedicated to pushing
their position through lies or any other means and you actually
cite
them?
Ahh, so instead of actually dwelling into the information you have
chosen to
attack the source instead.
There is a lot of information that has been noted and documented.
It
would
be nice, if you could actually
get into the information itself instead of taking the easy way out
and
attacking the source.
If you can't prove the information documented wrong, then just go
away
quietly and accept it.
Is that your idea arguing? Claiming victory and running away?
So in other words, you are going to be a waste of bandwidth and you have
no
argument against the documentation and data.
Why did I even think for a moment you would???
What is there to argue with?
The documentation and research done
You can't come up with anything original
so you posted some crap from a pro-life rag.
As I said, you have chosen to remain a waste of bandwidth.

Personally, I just want other Correctional Officers to see just how stupid
people who know nothing of the career really are.
Seriously, talk to your friend..he doesn't know what the hell he is talking
about.
Read up about Attica.
If it was like your friend said, officers would get killed in a heart beat.
Here is a quote from a former New York City Police officer
http://community.policeone.com/fusetalk/messageview.cfm?catid=93&threadid=3347
"I agree with you 100 per cent. I was a NY Police Officer for 20years and
retired in 1988. Since 1989 I have been working for the NC State Dept. of
Correction. I tell people for twenty years I pull them inside and the past
15 I try to kept them inside. I have been on both sides of the coin, and
quite frankly it is more dangerous inside that out. Inside officers do not
have weapons except for the tower officers. Most officers just have OC.
Correctional Officers normally work in situations, when at anytime the
inmates can take over. The old time quote of chain gang guards is still
alive. However most correctional officers are professional people just
trying to protect the public. Here is North Carolina we have not had a raise
in pay for 4 years. We are quite underpaid for the work done. People do not
understand the work we do, maybe we should leave the gates open and let all
the inmates return prey on the public. It would serve them right, however
lot of the public are our families, friends etc. I think this is want keeps
us going.
Ronr"
If you want to stereotype and choose to be ignorant, that is your choice.
If you want to actually know what really happens and what Correctional
Officers do...you let me know. I will gladly educate you and introduce you
to many others who can assist in your education.
Choice is yours.

Expert? On what? Rattling doors?
Rattling doors?
oh puh-lease, you know absolutely NOTHING about the career itself, the
dangers, risk, the training...nothing
As far as I can tell, your training leaves much to be desired.
Prisoners are tortured, killed, raped, sexually molested, and
humiliated.
Please, go sit back in your chair and be someone elses arm chair expert
I have a friend who is a guard at a state prison. He hates it. He
says much of what goes on in Iraq has been going on in US prisons for
years. There are just no cameras allowed. He says you have to be
sadistic to enjoy it. He is waiting for an opening on the State
Patrol, which he hopes is at least somewhat professional.

You can run, but you can't hide.
Keep pushing him. Eventually he will tell you that he isn't going to
speak to you anymore. In Heishman's world, being a coward is a virtue.

Naturally some of the extremist in here...flower
power...Barnes...Fischer...humphrey, and a few others...are
going to
blow
this off.
Not really an unbiased source, is it?
You don't consider research from a medical association good
enough?
They are dedicated to pushing
their position through lies or any other means and you actually
cite
them?
Ahh, so instead of actually dwelling into the information you have
chosen to
attack the source instead.
There is a lot of information that has been noted and documented.
It
would
be nice, if you could actually
get into the information itself instead of taking the easy way out
and
attacking the source.
If you can't prove the information documented wrong, then just go
away
quietly and accept it.
Is that your idea arguing? Claiming victory and running away?
So in other words, you are going to be a waste of bandwidth and you
have
no
argument against the documentation and data.
Why did I even think for a moment you would???
What is there to argue with?
The documentation and research done
You can't come up with anything original
so you posted some crap from a pro-life rag.
As I said, you have chosen to remain a waste of bandwidth.
Kick my *****...YEA RIGHT...ROFL
Kicking your ***** is like kicking my cats *****. Sure I can do it, but
why?
Also - Why do you keep trying to pull Barnes, Humphrey, and
others
into
the conversation when you are afraid to address their comments?
What
is that all about? Kind of cowardly, don't you think?
I forgot you...;o)
sorry I will include you in the list of extremist.
By extremist you mean people who kick your *****
Kick my *****?
Defeat the date in the research
That wasn't really your research, was it?
Trying to avoid...kick my *****..YEA RIGHT!!!
Avoid what? It was *****.
so badly you fear them
and make excuses to address their comments?
Fear?
Not hardly sock puppet
Clearly fear.
Clearly you can't hide your lame excuses
You are the one who begged Barnes, Humphrey, and others to stop
bothering you and then when they stopped bothering you you mention
their names in a cowardly attempt to back stab them.
You are just some security
guard who has a short list of people he is willing to speak with
because you live your life in fear.

The same way you stand a stinky, egotistical, overbearing, controlling,

you can't get rid of him you just sort of hold your nose and tolerate him.
