"not every attack against Israel could be followed by an immediate
public condemnation."
One reason, the Vatican stated, is "the fact that attacks against
Israel were sometimes followed by immediate Israeli reactions not
always compatible with the norms of international law."
"It would, consequently, have been impossible to condemn the former and
remain silent on the latter," said the statement.
I post this as a follow up to my earlier one. One thing I will note:
How a Pope reacts to a given crisis will not be approved of by all at
anytime. As an example consider the flack Pope Pius X12 has taken over
the Holocaust. He saved more Jews than any one single person in the
Holocaust but he gets flack for not being loud enough, when being loud
at a certain time might just have gotten more Jews killed. For any that
doubt his opposition to Nazism read his two Christmas addresses that
cover the subject and read this book.
For those who doubt John Paul II's opposition to terrorism, read his
works and look at his life. For those who doubt Benedict XVI's
opposition to terrorism read his condemnation of terrorism and
terrorist attacks . . .yes the one that left Israel out. Just because
Israel is not held up as the most important nation in the modern world
every time someone mentions somebody dying does not mean one does not
condemn terrorism or not view Palistinian suicide bombers as
terrorists.
I have an idea: if Israel feels left out, how about this. I condemn the
state sponsored killing of innocent people and a regime's unwillingness
to recognize a person's right to life. Therefore I must condemn the
policies of Nazi Germany in this respect, as well as those of Israel.
"A 1977 law ensures a low-cost, and in some cases free[government paid
for], legal abortion to any woman [in Israel] who fills one of four
criteria:
She is under 18 or over 40 (cost to those in between: 1,500 shekels
[$370]).
She is carrying a fetus with a serious mental or physical defect
(free).
She claims that the fetus results from forbidden relations such as rape
or incest (free) or, in the case of a married woman, that the baby is
not her husband's (not free). Single women also fall under this clause,
and they too must pay.
She shows that by continuing the pregnancy, her physical or mental
health would be damaged (free). . . . (Source: Jewish Virtual Library,
A Division of the American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise.)
If we are to be always inclusive of Israel when listing victims of
terrorism, what about when listing perpetrators to be condemned for the
support (paying for is supporting) of extermination of innocents? Sorry
if I ruffle feathers but I believe my point is valid. And for those who
are not close readers, my making this point does not equal
anti-semitism.
What if he just forgot to put Palistinian terror strikes in his
listing/prayer that all this flap has arisen from . . .would that have
been so bad? In response to a comment on my earlier post, acting like a
spoiled brat because you failed to get a mention (so Im gonna take my
toy and go home) will not endear the Israelis to the Vatican. It works
both ways my friend.

'Realism is seductive because once you have accepted the reasonable notion
that you should base your actions on reality, you are too often led to
accept, without much questioning, someone else's version of what that
reality is. It is a crucial act of independent thinking to be skeptical of
someone else's description of reality.'-

A belief in fetal rights is not a Christian monopoly.

Nor is being a fundy twit.
However, Jews are not allowed to be fundies.
At least, not & still practice Judaism.

========
Susan does not have enough intelligence to address the Israeli abortion
issue that was talked about in the first post.
She just sticks her finger up her nose to the second joint and then
snorts something inane about Christians.
