ACLU suit challenges classroom Pledge of Allegiance law |
Is there any cause whatsoever, that would defined by any decent person as
anti-American, that the ACLU doesn't promote and defend?

ACLU suit challenges classroom Pledge of Allegiance law
Cameron Frazier's refusal to stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance
at Boynton Beach High School is sparking a Constitutional battle against his
teacher and the Palm Beach County School Board.
Backed by the American Civil Liberties Union, the 17-year-old junior
claims in a federal lawsuit filed Thursday that he was ridiculed and
punished Dec. 8 when he twice refused to stand for the pledge during his
fourth-period algebra class.

I'd rather see them restore the original Pledge to the Flag: I pledge
allegiance to my flag, and to the republic for which it stands - one nation,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

You'd be pretty old, then, considering the "to my flag" was replaced with "to
the flag of the United States" in 1923...but I have no problems with either,
as I had the luck to be born the year after McCarthy's rabid weasels managed
to get their version approved. I'll stick with the original - it worked for
us for 60-odd years.

Do you think JIben knows that "under g-d" wasn't added until Congress
inserted those words?

That's no good either. Requiring that in school would infringe on the rights
of the students who advocate the overthrow of the government.

I don't believe that any schools *REQUIRE* the students to recite the
pledge, it's more of a peer pressure thing.

My personal opinion, I don't care either way how the pledge is said. I
don't support forcing people to say the pledge; however, it wouldn't
bother me if "Under God" is included or not. I am going to say the
pledge regardless.

that they had sufficient reason to do so, at least to them.

I'd rather see them restore the original Pledge to the Flag: I pledge
allegiance to my flag, and to the republic for which it stands - one
nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Right after the last go around I saw part of an old movie "Bells of Sait
Mary's" with a Catholic priest (Bing Crosby), nuns and school kids
reciting
the pledge as it was originally introduced.
My personal opinion, I don't care either way how the pledge is said. I
don't support forcing people to say the pledge; however, it wouldn't
bother me if "Under God" is included or not. I am going to say the
pledge regardless.
I do not say it myself because the phrase "and justice for all" is a lie.
I can certainly understand that, it does seem that way at
times...although I will still always say and believe that we have the
best judicial system in the world. It isn't perfect, and it isn't
always right...but it's still far better than any other judicial system
in the world that I know of.

I really don't think that is the case, but you are entitled to your opinion.
Corporate cash cows have corrupted the practice of justice for the
individual, imo.
