Careful. A job is a multiyear thing. But I can't say Bush's
initial job loss has been compensated for yet, despite the
healthy gains in GDP we've seen thus far.

The maybe good news: 2006 looks like it will be an election
year and an economic upswing with minor employment gains,
according to the pundits. This could lead to some nasty
scenarios, though I suspect more of the status quo unless
the Republicans do something *really* stupid.

suggests that the employment has been up since 1990 (Bush I),
even among IT industries. The dip between 2001-2004 is
very obvious, though, and I don't know how this correlates
with population.
Expect a lot of hot air and spin, with minor flurries of
legislative activity in 2006. Annoyance highs and lows in
one's neck of the woods may vary, and the 5-year forecast
is completely up in the air.
I'm not sure how much Democrats will benefit from this.
