BEWARE!! The Website, "ABORTION.HM" is an ANTI-Choice site by "Birthright!!!" |
That website LYINGLY and deceptively makes the
following claims:
"If you are pregnant and you are seeking an abortion,
we do NOT recommend you go to the cheapest or nearest
abortion provider in your local telephone directory. There
are a number of different options available to you. We
recommend you call the following telephone number...
"You will not be pressured into selecting any specific
abortion provider.
"You will not be pressured into selecting any specific
abortion procedure.
Right. THAT'S because those whom "Birthright" lure will be
pressured INSTEAD to gestate-to-term, whether they want to or not!
Those women won't even be OFFERED the abortion option,
and those clowns will NOT refer them to a reputable abortion clinic.
The website goes on to say:
"If you are pregnant and want an abortion, please
visit the ABORTION.HM website at http://ABORTION.HM
Yeah. Right. As though any woman WANTING an abortion would
want **anything** to do with bigoted and hateful losers like you who seek
to CON them OUT of getting the very abortions that they **want.** (Your
deceptive site DOES say: "If you are pregnant and want an abortion.")
Then, to be even MORE deceptive, they provide two links to PRO-
Choice sites... PP and NARAL. But are careful to slyly include a
disclaimer that manages not to reveal that *they* (Birthright) are
ANTI-Choice. AND, of course, there is NOTHING in that site to let
people know that "Birthright" is running it.
That's ANTI-Choicers for you -- always up to their LYING tricks!

When discussing religion, I've always asked where the first sin came
from. Most religionists say Adam and Eve, and when pressed as to why
Adam and Eve woudl sin, they back it up a few extra steps to the
Devil.
The quesiton is "God created everything perfect, so why would any
creation want to sin?" And the answer is "they have free will."
What does this have to do with abortion?
Well, free will means you are capable of making choices, but there are
choices you would not want to make. I choose not to eat rat poison,
but that isn't because I don't have free will; it is because I do not
want to suffer the consequences of eating Rat Poison. I can just
picture the pre-fall devil sitting in heaven sobbing his eyes out: "Oh
no, I have free will, now I have to rebel, even though I don't want
to, because if I don't rebel it means I don't have free will."
So, choice, apparently, means abortion. Isn't life a choice?

If I broke my arm, I could **choose** NOT to have it set.
But that would be stupid.
Because having it set would ultimately restore my life to
PRE-broken-arm normal. But *not* having it set would
result in suffering unnecessary additional consequences.
Potentially even lifelong and opportunity-limiting ones.
If I were a woman and got pregnant when the timing
for that was all wrong, and I knew that continuing a
pregnancy at THIS time would disrupt my future plans
and aspirations, I could nevertheless **choose** NOT
to have the abortion that would remedy that situation.
But, based on the above, that could be a stupid choice.
Because having the abortion would immediately put my life
BACK on its *original* track, and RESTORE my well-being
and full range of future opportunities to PRE-ill-timed-preg-
nancy normal.
Remedies are valuable, and they enhance our lives,
restore normalcy, and reverse many potential, unnec-
essary consequences.
It's all about being SENSIBLE.

The site is not run by Birthright. I launched the site myself and was very
careful not to make any untrue statements.
It's all true. She CAN call Birthright, just like it says.
All three of us...me, myself, and I, all agree that we do NOT recommend she
goes to the nearest or cheapest abortion facility in her local telephone
directory. It's TRUE that there are a NUMBER of different options available to
her. Me, myself and I do recommend she call that phone number.

You folks really do get all excited if a baby gets away from the pro-abort
death machines. Are there no pro-life organizations in California,
particularly in San Jose that this abortion clinic could have listed when
providing options for the mothers and the children they carry? I went to
the site listed above, which is, by the way no womens community medical
clinic, just a plain old abortion store. They do nothing for women's health
except put links for abortion connections all over the country, things like
overeaters anonymous, and one tiny little one dealing with adoption. I
don't count doing abortions as providing health care for women.

What makes you think that when a woman becomes pregnant the only possible

There is no choice if a pregnant woman is not fully informed of the options

I am posting to talk.abortion, and this response is being posted to the
other newsgroups because someone linked the groups. I do not read the other
newsgroups.
From what I've seen, pro-aborts do the Rumplestilskin routine (jumping up
and down and crying foul because a life might escape their control of the
fortunes of a human life) if they think that there is a chance that other
information can enter the mind of a female who wants to abort. Birthright
provides information on options and doesn't hypnotize women as they walk in
the door. They will try to talk a woman out of the abortion option, but
cannot stop her if she decides to walk to an abortion clinic. They do not
benefit financially if a woman lets her child continue to live. They do the
best they can under immoral government control of the culture.
The pro-abort community bypasses all morality in favor of a crude, cynical,
materialistic, momentary reward. Being momentary, it may work for for a
particular woman at a particular time, but the long term consequences of
this view of life are disasterous for the community at large and may be for
the woman involved. Anyone who looks at governments around the world knows
that government, as controlled by humans, is very morally weak. Saddam's
actions, though legal under his regime, were morally repugnant. Those who
support abortion because it is legal are in the same place as those who
support the actions of all governments, including the government of the
Nazis. Either there is a moral standard outside of that of the government,
or the government determines the moral standard. You cannot have it both
ways.

Abortion, in the U.S., is not murder, subjectively or objectively.
In legal terms, if abortion is illegal, it will be deemed murder. That is,
simply, the unlawful taking of someone's life. So you'd be right in saying
that abortion isn't murder in the US, in this context. I think the person

however, which is perfectly acceptable. In this case, 'murder' really is

There is no "non-legal context" to murder. Murder is a legal concept.

Not at all. In fact, it is clearly unacceptable. It is simply
erroneous. Murder has a very clear meaning, and abortion doesn't fit.

Right. It is a dysphemism. In other words, the word that truly

distortions. You find this acceptable?
And, as always, morality is not objective, but subjective.
THIS I agree with. One thing people on this newsgroup seem to have
trouble determining is whether their position is a legal one or a moral
one.

immorality.
Right. It is a dysphemism. In other words, the word that truly
depicts reality isn't inflammatory enough so pro-lifers use
distortions. You find this acceptable?
You'll see elsewhere that I've expressed my dislike for loaded language in
debate. But as loaded as 'murder' might be, as a verb, it would not be
incorrectly used. As a noun, yes.
And, as always, morality is not objective, but subjective.
THIS I agree with. One thing people on this newsgroup seem to have
trouble determining is whether their position is a legal one or a moral
one.
That was my main point :) Somehow I f*cked it up along the way. Apologies.

Again, you are assuming that the direct abortion of a living child
is
objectively murder.
Will someone explain what the hell you mean by "objectively murder."
Abortion, in the U.S., is not murder, subjectively or objectively.
In legal terms, if abortion is illegal, it will be deemed murder.
Actually, when abortion is viewed as illegal, it is not viewed as
murder.
Yes, I concede that.
That is,
simply, the unlawful taking of someone's life.
Abortion isn't viewed this way, even when it is illegal.
Again, this is the same thing. I agree.
So you'd be right in saying
that abortion isn't murder in the US, in this context. I think the
person
you were replying to is using the word 'murder' in a non-legal context,
There is no "non-legal context" to murder. Murder is a legal concept.
The reason pro-lifers use it is for dysphemistic purposes.
If legality weren't a significant aspect of the discussion, I would have
disagreed with you. But technically, you're right again, yes. I've made the
mistake of allowing common semantics to become embroiled in a specialised
domain. Whoops. However, you'd be wrong to assume that 'murder', used as a
verb, is merely dysphemistic. As a verb, there is more to the word than
merely legality.
however, which is perfectly acceptable.
Not at all. In fact, it is clearly unacceptable. It is simply
erroneous. Murder has a very clear meaning, and abortion doesn't fit.
In this case, 'murder' really is
used as 'kill', but with extra connotations of wrongdoing, or
immorality.

----------------------www.m-w.com--------------------
Main Entry: murder
Function: verb
transitive senses
1 : to kill (a human being) unlawfully and with premeditated malice
2 : to slaughter wantonly : SLAY
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The verb, to murder, means to kill a human being, unlawfully, and with
premeditated malice. A human being is that which is born, human, and
alive. (a man is an expectant father, a father to be, up until the
moment that the woman gives birth.) The fetus is not a human being
and thus abortion cannot be murder.
----------------------www.m-w.com--------------------
Main Entry: malice
Function: noun
1 : desire to cause pain, injury, or distress to another
2 : intent to commit an unlawful act or cause harm without legal
justification or excuse
------------------------------------------------------------------
Even *IF* you consider the fetus to be a human being the woman has no
desire to cause pain, injury, or distress to her fetus. She wishes to
be not pregnant. Since, legally, no one may use another person's body
against their will, there is legal justification for removing the
embryo/fetus for the purpose of terminating an unwanted pregnancy.
There is no malice involved in an abortion, and thus even *if* you
hold the fetus to be a human being, abortion cannot be murder.

The first sense refers to the killing of a human being, but the second
senses does not. In a legal context, the object killed must be human, and
the first sense is consistent with that. However, the less technical
definition does place a restriction on what is killed.

Since the first definition of murder you cite is inappropriate anyway (as
legally we are not dealing with a human being, and this definition requires
a legal context), this is irrelevant. An issue as far as most
anti-abortionists are concerned with is whether or not the fetus is indeed a
human being. Regardless of whether or not it is deemed so by law, it is
acceptable for people to debate that without a legal context, since what
'human being' means in legal jargon does not necessarily correlate to what
it means in other contexts. The second definition of murder you cite is
extremely loaded, and as such I look down on its use in abortion debate, but
as it accurately reflects some anti-abortionists' opinions on the procedure,
it isn't incorrect usage. Just inappropriate, I would say.

*****. Abortion has been illegal before, and is generally illegal
everywhere under some circumstances. Yet abortion, with the consent
of the woman, has never been considered to be murder.
That is, simply, the unlawful taking of someone's life.
The embryo/fetus is not a 'someone' for most purposes of the law. It
is impossible to take the life of an embryo/fetus under the standard
determination of death. The tax board does not accept an unborn child
as a dependent.

Again - I agree. I am always surprised that people have such a tough
time understanding the concept of "murder." Abortion isn't illegal, so
it is clearly not murder. However, as you point out, when abortion is
illegal, it is still not viewed as murder because the law does not view
a fetus as being a "living human being."

Fair enough guys, I hold my hands up to that. :) I have no problem
understanding the concept of murder, however. I simply didn't realise that
when abortion _is_ illegal, the fetus isn't regarded as a living human
being. Actually, this makes sense, as the opposite would require a reworking
of the concept of murder to fit the legality of abortion.
