Let people read the story for themselves and don't forget that
discrimination against people on the basis of religion is illegal in the
USA.
Your account of what I read is way off.

So? The jury did their job. Rogers may get anything from 20 to life...which
sentence had nothing to do with his reading the bible, and everything to do
with the testimony. Are you going to file an appeal on his behalf because you
believe he was discriminated against because of his religion? Be my guest.
That way, you can prove that you're a gibbering lunatic to the state of
Alabama, too.

Just was trying to fend off the rants of someone who uses anything that
violates Christian ethics in an attempt to stain Christianity. Where do
these people come from that think that Christianity teaches people to kill
when there is a sanction against killing?

which sentence had nothing to do with his reading the bible, and
everything to do
with the testimony.

I'm glad you can see that.

Are you going to file an appeal on his behalf because you
believe he was discriminated against because of his religion?

Oh, no. I still don't think he is guilty of aiding and abetting a murder
though since they acquitted the person who fired the fatal shot of murder.
See the logic there?
Now, if he was attempting to murder the man who he was attacking I can see
how they would stick an attempted murder charge. The 'shooter', the story
says, got off on a self-defense claim.
Did you read everything in the story?
Reckon the story is completely accurate?

Be my guest.
That way, you can prove that you're a gibbering lunatic to the state of
Alabama, too.

I hope not. I am currently less than 100 miles from where the Appeal
is likely to be heard, since it is likely to be heard in the state
capitol of Birmingham. At least Roy Moore is no longer in the area, or
rather not hearing any legal cases. He might think Johnny was sane.

Nope. Farther north, in Huntsville. The main interstate is I-65,
which will take me almost all the way back home to Fort Wayne, IN.

At least to the south side of Indianapolis and then around to I-69, from which
it's a short hop to Mad Anthony's Fort. ;-) I haven't been in Huntsville
since I was a teenager in the late '60s, and that was way before I-565, but I
remember seeing some of the Redstone Arsenal out Governors Drive while we were
in town...about the closest I've been to it since then has been on I-59 where
it passes by Fort Payne, and that's been many times since I got my degree back
in the late '70s.

Oh, you mean things like employment, and rights, and official stuff like
that. Sure. But that's not all there is.
Guess what? It's perfectly legal to have an organization that discriminates
against anyone or any group one pleases. Hence the Boy Scouts are prefectly
within their rights to discriminate against gays, however repugnant that
discrimination may be. The KKK can discriminate against blacks and
non-Christians. A private school can choose to only let a specific religion
into its halls. Your club can exclude anyone you dislike for whatever
reason.
You can discriminate against anyone you want.

Not exactly. :-) When dealing with private individuals, the Federal
civil rights statutes only reach as far as public accommodations. For
example, it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of race or
national origin in hotels, restaurants, theaters, etc.
Also, many states have enacted laws that go well beyond the protections
afforded by the Federal laws, both in terms of their scope of
prohibited conduct and their application to what might be regarded by
some as private clubs or organizations.

Bzzz, public display of Christianity during his mruder trial. It is
clear he's trying to get a lighter setence by flaunting his Christian
piety.
Funny, you don't see evolutionary biologists reading Darwin during
