Bill O'Lielly Lie of the Day: Another Made-Up Fake Xmas Outrage in TX |
http://mediamatters.org/items/200512130006
O'Reilly falsely claimed a Texas school district banned red and green
clothing, called move "fascism"
Summary: On both The Radio Factor and The O'Reilly Factor, host Bill
O'Reilly falsely claimed a Texas school district "told students they
couldn't wear red and green because they were Christmas colors." The
school district has since released an official statement refuting
O'Reilly's false contention.
On December 9, Bill O'Reilly falsely claimed on both Fox News' The
O'Reilly Factor and the nationally syndicated The Radio Factor with
Bill O'Reilly that the Plano Independent School District (Texas) "told
students they couldn't wear red and green because they were Christmas
colors." He labeled the alleged ban "fascism." On December 12, the
school district released an official statement by Superintendent of
Schools Dr. Doug Otto refuting O'Reilly's contention:
"The school district does not restrict students or staff from wearing
certain color clothes during holiday times or any other school days,"
noted Dr. Otto, who said that the school district's attorney has
requested that Mr. O'Reilly retract the statement.
Last year, four families filed suit against the Plano Independent
School District for allegedly prohibiting the distribution of
religious materials at holiday parties and on school grounds. Among
the allegations was the claim that the district excluded the use of
red-and-green colored napkins at the annual school holiday party. The
complaint made no mention of restrictions on red and green clothing,
though the plaintiffs did allege that the school district banned red
pompoms. According to the Associated Press, a day after the suit was
filed, a federal judge ordered the school district "to let students
distribute 'religious viewpoint gifts' at a party the following day."
By then, though, the AP reported, "the district said the order was
unnecessary because officials already had decided to allow students to
distribute all materials -- religious or otherwise -- at the party."
According to an April 21 Dallas Morning News report, the plaintiffs
rejected a settlement offer from the school district in April. The
Liberty Legal Institute, which represents the families, said that the
lawsuit is ongoing.
From the December 9 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor:
O'REILLY: In Plano, Texas, just north of Dallas, the school told
students they couldn't wear red and green because they were Christmas
colors. That's flat-out fascism. If I were a student in Plano, I'd be
a walking Christmas tree after that order. Have a little thing on my
head.
From the December 9 broadcast of Westwood One's nationally syndicated
The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly:
O'REILLY: Plano, Texas, north of Dallas. Students were told they could
not wear red and green because they were Christmas colors. Let me
repeat that. Plano, Texas. Students can't wear clothing that have red
or green colors because they were too close to Christmas colors. Can
you believe this? This is fascism. In addition, it'd be grossly
disrespectful.

102 Irish Priests Suspected of Abuse
By SHAWN POGATCHNIK, Associated Press Writer
DUBLIN, Ireland - The Roman Catholic archdiocese of Dublin said
Wednesday that 102 of its priests are suspected of sexually or
physically abusing at least 350 children since 1940 the biggest such
admission to date in Ireland.
The office of Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said it was publishing its
findings ahead of this month's expected formation of a
government-appointed commission to investigate the history and
handling of such abuse in Ireland.
This predominantly Catholic nation has been rocked by waves of church
sex-abuse scandals since 1994.
The archdiocese said it conducted a two-year review of the personnel
files of more than 2,800 priests who have worked in the Dublin
archdiocese, either as parish priests or in religious orders, during
the past 66 years.
It found that eight priests in Dublin were convicted of abuse, while
32 priests have been sued for damages by 105 victims at a cost to the
archdiocese of $7 million. That figure includes about $2 million in
legal bills for both sides.
But the report said costs were expected to increase significantly
because 40 cases remained unsettled, while church authorities had
positively identified at least 350 abuse victims and "a possible
further 40 persons who may have been abused but who it is not yet
possible to identify or trace."

Since the Roman Catholic church's maximum leader in the Emerald Isle
was jackbooted for buggering altar-boys, maybe the 102 were only
faithfully following the leader?

No surprise. A superstitious order that attracts, by it's very
nature an anti-human sexual perversity, individuals that rape children

That's the thing about the RCC. They can't or won't adapt to

Happy? No. Even though it confirms what we have said about christians
all along. They are no better than anyone. Unlike christians, I am sad
to see children harmed in Jesus' name.
It's so sad that children of christians are conditioned by those that
*they* trust to trust all adults claiming to be christians...or even
claiming to be decent members of society.
If one child of a christian is saved by this, it must be worth it.
They certainly won't be helped by those that they trust. Parents,
family, clergy will only subject them to rape.
Bam, why do you hate children? Why are you happy that children are
raped? Why aren't you angry that those who speak for you and tell you
what to think are raping children? Oh, because you support them.

Mokay... I'm good with that. The ones I hate are the ones who blindly
accept what their church does. It would appear that you haven't. If
that is true, I apologize to you.
I am an atheist. I grew up as a Roman Catholic. For whatever reason, I
have a sympathetic attachment to the church. I hate what the least
common denominator has done to it. No, I don't believe in a "god" but
I understand the attraction.I don't fault anyone for being in a
church...only if they get in my face. I won't believe in a god, but I
can certainly respect those who do. If they find comfort in
that...good for them.
Some of the finest men I have ever known have been priests and
brothers. Some of the finest women I have ever known have been nuns. I
was educated K-12 in Catholic schools. Surprised? You shouldn't be. It
sounds like you are also disappointed by the "least common
denominator" Sadly, that is what all organizations are judged by. It
is up to all good men and women to see that the scum are expelled from
their organizations.
Do it...and the reputation of all Catholics would be improved. The
problem was that child rapists were hidden and harboured. If you had a
problem with that, you have increased in my estimation. If you
supported that, welcome to those I hate.

with it - it's the best thing that ever happened.
BAM
Happy? No. Even though it confirms what we have said about christians
all along. They are no better than anyone. Unlike christians, I am sad
to see children harmed in Jesus' name.
So then what are you, zamboni?
I suppose one could say that Jesus was a failure because 8% of His
apostles
betrayed Him?
Bam, why do you hate children?
Why do you falsely accuse me?
Why are you happy that children are
raped?
It's the anti-Catholics that are happy, not I.
Why aren't you angry that those who speak for you and tell you
what to think are raping children?
Im angrier than anyone. They slandered my Church - the true Church and
they
will pay an awful penalty in the next life - this one's just a drop in the
bucket.
BAM
Looks good to me. Just go to Confession and start over.
BAM

This is why the Religious Right doesn't give a ***** about preserving
natural resources or depleting the ozone layer. When you realize that this
life is all there is, you and your surroundings become a lot more precious.
No wonder we have to write laws to make you people behave yourselves.

Atheists get to live their lives in accordance with their own desires. I

It's going to a "save" crystal and writing your progress to a memory
card so that, when you come back later, you won't lose any progress. ;-)

No surprise. A superstitious order that attracts, by it's very
nature an anti-human sexual perversity, individuals that rape
children and then are protected because of the superstition.

The Roman Disease is, unfortunately, common and little thought given to the
destruction of children's lives and souls by Holy Mother Church. Holy
Mother Church judges herself by what has happened, and continues to happen
to these children. The priest who knew, but remained silent, are equally
guilty of the children's blood.

Bill will be red-faced about this bit of history:
http://www.hymnsandcarolsofchristmas.com/History/American_Puritanism.htm
In 1659, the Massachusetts Puritans declared the observation of
Christmas to be a criminal offense by passed the Five-Shilling
Anti-Christmas Law:
Whosoever shall be found observing any such day as Christmas,
or the like, either by forbearing labor, feasting, or any other way
upon such account as aforesaid, every such person so offending shall
pay for each offense five shillings as a fine to the country.
A second five shilling fine could be imposed upon anyone who was found
gambling with cards or dice. [5] The laws were repealed in 1681 when
it became clear that London might revoke the charter of the Colony.
In 1687, the Rev. Increase Mather of Boston wrote:
The generality of Christmas-keepers observe that festival
after such a manner as is highly dishonourable to the name of Christ.
How few are there comparatively that spend those holidays (as they are
called) after a holy manner. But they are consumed in Compotations, in
Interludes, in playing at Cards, in Revelling, in excess of wine, in
mad Mirth
. [6]
A child missing school on Christmas Day in Boston public schools as
recently as 1870 would be punished and possibly dismissed. Workmen
missing work could also be penalized or dismissed. [7] The
Five-Shilling Law was repealed in 1681, under pressure from London.
The Puritans brought strong religious impulses to bear in all colonies
north of Virginia, but New England was their stronghold, and the
Congregationalist churches established there were able to perpetuate
their viewpoint about a Christian society for more than 200 years. In
New England, Congregationalist churches worked so closely with civil
governments in every colony except Rhode Island that no other type
of church was allowed in the area until 1690, when English authorities
forced them to tolerate other religious groups. This relationship is
often called theocracy, a situation in which ministers interpreted
biblical laws related to general human conduct and town officials
enforced them through police power. State government support for
Congregationalist churches did not end until 1818 in Connecticut and
not until 1834 in Massachusetts.

So much for the myth of the Pilgrims coming to America to find
"religious freedom"!
