Bush Chastises Dem Senators for Blocking Judical Nominees |
On Jul. 07, 2004, Knight Ridder Newspapers posted an
article by William Douglas and Anna Griffin titled
"Bush Attacks Democratic Senators for Blocking Judicial
Nominees." Go to:

Excerpts:
"President Bush used a visit Wednesday to the home
state of Democratic vice presidential candidate
John Edwards to blast Senate Democrats for blocking
his judicial nominees, a move designed to elevate a
White House complaint into a campaign issue.
"After an airport meeting with three of his nominees
from North Carolina, Bush said Edwards was part of
a group of Democratic senators who were creating a
judicial emergency by holding up his judicial choi-
ces because they preferred "activist judges who will
rewrite the law from the bench." The president repeated
the charge after a similar meeting later in the day
with obstructed nominees in Michigan.
"'There's a minority of senators blocking the process,'
Bush said in Raleigh. "They're playing politics with
something as important as the judiciary."
[...]
"The Constitution empowers the president to appoint
federal judges with the advice and consent of the
Senate.

Papa Jack comments:
This is an issue the Dim Dems will lose votes on this
year. The voters will understand that the President
should be allowed to nominate the judges he believes
are eligible. If the Dems disagree, they should
give their reasons why and try to win votes on the
Senate floor -- like the Constitution indicates.

The very moment the Republicans took over the house, the senate, and the
presidency...we knew that Democrats would pull that crap.
They are not interested in doing the will of the people, they are only
trying to protect their own selfish wants. Acting like childish babies
because they
lost the elections. It is their own fault they lost.
There are good Democrats out there, I think Edwards is one of them. But
these left wing liberals are killing the party.

So, PJ, why didn't you bring this up when the Republicans were
blocking Clinton's nominees?
