"I ask that we pray, as Americans have always prayed in times of trial,

with the humility to ask God to keep us strong, so we can better serve

Could you do better? All I see you complainers doing is sitting in a
newsgroup talking about how Bush isn't doing his job. Well? Why
aren't you doing something about it? Why aren't you coming up with
solutions? Why are Democrats more worried about blaming Bush, rather
than coming up with solutions?
This is getting old...blame..but come up with nothing better.

I agree considering people don't have access to the phones and web,
errr--and secondly people who do haveto the phone are battling to get
through.

I just saw on the news that Karen Hughes is being sworn in as some
undersecratary, possibly Undersecratary of State (Rice is with them).
She should be put in charge of FEMA: after working with Bush 2 for so many
years, she's got a lot of experience at dealing with disasters.
Also, we got word this morning that FEMA is asking for more firefighters for
their PR blitz. I can understand that they want someone like firefighters
because we've had background checks, but the objective is a waste of
resources. Firefighters are already in short supply, so when we leave, there
needs to be a good reason. FEMA could get IRS employees to the same job.
A lot of my firefighters have busted my balls over my disdain for Bush and
the way I make fun of him. I've said, "I told you he was inept," probably
six or seven times to those same guys over the past week, including my Chief
this morning.
The disaster in Louisiana continues....

Good article, interesting reading.
O.k., I agree that Government from the top down deserves blame. It
seems to me that all areas in Government failed. Most importantly to
note is the lack of response by the local government in the areas
hardest hit.
They knew the danger this storm posed. Did they "request" help?
If Local Government..meaning city and state, drops the ball...how do
you expect the Federal Government to come in and just pick it up and
start running?
Personally, I think that the State and City Government in the areas
that knew the storm was going to hit them, should have requested for
all available means of transportation and volunteers to get in there
and get those people out.
We can't put all the blame on the Federal Government, although they do
deserve part of the blame. Local government failed, and if we want to
bring politics into it..which is stupid...the local government is
primarily Democrat.
