Bush Won, Gore Lost, Get Over It Already |
Here's a question that the Democrats never really answer; how many times do the
exact same ballots have to be recounted before the Democrats will concede that
Bush won? Let's recap shall we?
- Bush won the first machine recount.
- Bush won the 2nd machine recount.
- Bush won when the absentee votes were added in. Incidentally, this should have
been the end of it according to Florida law written before the election.
- Bush won the recount mandated by the Florida State Supreme Court that was
ruled unconstitutional by the USSC 9-0. The USSC then ruled another FSSC
recount unconstitutional 7-2 and stopped any further recounts via a 5-4 vote.
- Bush won the recount after the election done by the Miami Herald. Here's a
headline and the first paragraph...
"REVIEW SHOWS BALLOTS SAY BUSH
Republican George W. Bush's victory in Florida, which gave him the White House,
almost certainly would have endured even if a recount stopped by the U.S.
Supreme Court had been allowed to go forward."
- Bush also won a 2nd recount done after the election by eight media groups.
Here's what the New York Times, certainly not a Bush supporting paper, had to
say about that. I am quoting the headline and the first paragraph...
"Study of Disputed Florida Ballots Finds Justices Did Not Cast the Deciding Vote
A comprehensive review of the uncounted Florida ballots from last year's
presidential election reveals that George W. Bush would have won even if the
United States Supreme Court had allowed the statewide manual recount of the
votes that the Florida Supreme Court had ordered to go forward"
Now again I'll ask the question; how many times do the exact same ballots have
to be recounted and show that Bush won before the Democrats will concede that
Bush won?

OK nitwit, then you can expect the sysop at earthlink to complain to your
ISP for a false complaint. It's time consuming and they don't like that.

At no point were the overvotes counted. They went by the tens of
thousands to Gore. Under Florida law they were supposed to be counted
because they clearly indicated "the intent of the voter."
It was inevitable these votes were going to be added. Why else stop the
recounts?

The law requires that a ballot must be properly cast, the
intent of the voter must be clear, not a guess on the part
of a poll worker.

If you think marking Gore and then writing Gore in does not show the
intent of the voter is to vote for Gore . . . you have even more of the
"qualities" of an ideal, loyal Republican than I thought.

The Bush people cried like babies when several military ballots who did
not met that criteria were going to be tossed out.

By law, that invalidates a ballot, unless the state law
allows such extra marks. I just voted in our primary by
paper advanced ballot and the instruction is to make NO
MARKS except for the boxes to be darkened or in the write-in
on the reverse and not to vote twice for the same office.

After several months of hearings on THAT subject, not one
person was found to have been chased away or denied their
right to vote.
The whole issue of Florida votes was a phony issue that was
prepared weeks before the election. The claims about voting
for Pat Buchanan instead of Gore, the double voting for
offices, the whole issue was planned for and the public
relations push began BEFORE the polls closed on election
day.

They are already prepared to do the same thing again this
election, the claims will be made, the papers are already
prepared.

Hey, I know! Let's have an independent agency monitor the polls and
review the fairness of the voting! It's the solution the US suggests
whenever there's a problem with the elections in some other country.

Both sides have lawyers ready. I am ready to see quite a fight since the
Governor (the President's brother mind you) refuses to allow any kind of
paper trail to be implemented on our new "black box" voting machines
that are built and operated by a company that gave millions to the GOP
for its election campaigns. I am positive my vote will go in Kerry and
come out Bush, and I am positive there is not a fucking thing I can do
about it.

somebody is taking rigged polls seriously. The Dems are setting up field
offices with legal teams ready to go in anticipation of rigging efforts. It
may be that the repubs can't afford to lose this thing - to much corruption
and violations under the surface to allow that to happen.
