Bush's IQ Greater Than Kerry's
The New York Times reports that George W. Bush probably had a higher
I.Q. than John Kerry:
That, at least, is the conclusion of Steve Sailer, a conservative
columnist at the Web magazine Vdare.com and a veteran student of
presidential I.Q.'s. During the last presidential campaign Mr. Sailer
estimated from Mr. Bush's SAT score (1206) that his I.Q. was in the
mid-120's, about 10 points lower than Al Gore's.
Mr. Kerry's SAT score is not known, but now Mr. Sailer has done a
comparison of the intelligence tests in the candidates' military
records. They are not formal I.Q. tests, but Mr. Sailer says they are
similar enough to make reasonable extrapolations.
Mr. Bush's score on the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test at age 22
again suggests that his I.Q was the mid-120's, putting Mr. Bush in
about the 95th percentile of the population, according to Mr. Sailer.
Mr. Kerry's I.Q. was about 120, in the 91st percentile, according to
Mr. Sailer's extrapolation of his score at age 22 on the Navy Officer
Qualification Test.
Linda Gottfredson, an I.Q. expert at the University of Delaware,
called it a creditable analysis said she was not surprised at the
results or that so many people had assumed that Mr. Kerry was smarter.
"People will often be misled into thinking someone is brighter if he
says something complicated they can't understand," Professor
Gottfredson said.

This is the craziest ***** I have ever seen out here. Of course Osprey
is the moron who said it. George Bush never had a grade in college
over a C.
That says it all.
But for the record, the estimates by those who are NOT conservative
columnists and are scientists rather than politicians:
George W. Bush: 91
Bill Clinton: 182
Al Gore: 143
Jimmy Carter: 175
John F. Kennedy: 174
Richard Nixon: 155
Franklin D. Roosevelt: 147
Harry S. Truman: 132
Lyndon B. Johnson: 126
Dwight D. Eisenhower: 122
Gerald Ford: 121
Ronald Reagan: 105
George H.W. Bush: 98

What total *****. You can't make a precise judgement of IQ from SAT
scores and a person will vary by as much as 5-10 points from day to
day depending on how they feel as they do the test. A difference of ~5
points judged from 30 year old SATs (and other tests that were never
meant to be compared) is absolute crap.
Of course, it's not surprising that conservatives would have to tout
this as being meaningful, just as it's not surprising that you would
be sucked in by it, Bobby.

No, apparently she's not (appeal to authority fallacy ignored). These
conclusions cannot be reasonably drawn, and could not be drawn even if
recent IQ tests were performed, because those tests are not that
precise. If you knew the first thing about the subject and the
limitations of IQ tests you'd know that - but we already can see that
you don't.
A difference of 5 points is meaningless given where Sailer started, as
is his announcement of what their comparative IQs are. He offers no
methodology for his conclusions. His attempt to make Bush look smart
is obvious, but also laughably flawed to anybody who takes 10 seconds
to think about it.
These 'conclusions', arrived at by comparing different tests done
years ago in an effort to extrapolate something these tests were never
designed to measure, are *****, as is your support of them.
