Campaign Finance Law Challenge |
On August 10, 2004, the Tucson Citizen (AP) posted an article titled:
"McCain, Others Oppose Challenge to Campaign Finance Law." Go to;
http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/breaking/081004_campaign_finance.html
_______________________________________________________________________
Excerpts:
"Sen. John McCain and other sponsors of the McCain-Feingold
campaign finance law are asking a federal court to deny a
Wisconsin anti-abortion group's challenge to the law.
"At issue is a provision in the law that prohibits interest
groups from running corporate-funded radio and TV advertise-
ments that mention a candidate's name within 30 days of a
primary or 60 days of a general election.
[...]
"The group wants to run commercials asking people to call
Wisconsin Sens. Russ Feingold and Herb Kohl, both Democrats,
urging them to oppose filibusters of President Bush's judi-
cial nominees. Because Feingold is running for re-election
this year, the group is barred from mentioning his name."

Papa Jack comments:
I know the USSC has already ruled on this law, but it's still
difficult to believe it's constitutional to censor freedom of
speech in this crude manner.
It seems so simple:
Amendment I
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging
the freedom of speech, or of the press;..."

Why? You continually argue against freedom.
It seems so simple:
Amendment 13
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment
for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall
exist within the United States

I've used :: before the lines Ray deleted without any
attempt to show he made deletions. As anyone can
tell, Ray is trying to change the meaning of what I
posted in his usual sleazy way.
Next, I draw our readers attention to the simple fact
Ray's so-called comments do not make any sense and
have no relationship to what I wrote.

what exactly is either creative or childish about ray pointing out your lies
and misrepresentations?
do you contend that *all* readers know you are lying and misrepresenting and,
for that reason, there is no need for ray to point it out?

I see the only time you're interested in what the Constitution says is
when you feel that YOUR rights, or the rights of those people you
AGREE with, have been infringed upon.
"It is always to be taken for granted, that those who oppose an
equality of rights never mean the exclusion should take place on
themselves."

Life is seldom simple. If life was so simple, the FCC would not
exist, or at least it would not have the power it has today.
