While there is some truth in what you say, it is certainly not the whole
story. As a gay teen who could hardly pass a day without someone
expressing in some way that being gay was wrong, and that there was
something wrong with gay people --- many gays have been demoralized.
Add the stress on a relationship with a same sex partner in a world
where you usually get stares when you are out .. and here the occasional
anti-gay language that is still commonly acceptable ... Well .. people
need some kind of contact, sex is about a lot more than having an orgasm.
Not all gays feel this way, not everyone is from the same type of area
either, and some frankly are not as effected by others opinions, whether
they are young or old. Still, as someone who has explored the
"community" I know what I see.
There are people, homosexual or heterosexual, who prefer to be free from
entanglements, such as relationships. And young single guys.. well.. a
lot of them try to "get laid" as often as they can. It certainly is
easier if it is young single guys who feel the same way that you are
looking for.
Not everyone wants to live that way though, heterosexual or homosexual.
Unfortunately, demoralized people tend to slip into things like
promiscuity, drug abuse, alcoholism. It can ease the pain I guess, or
confusion. I really do see that around me. There is a segment of the
population that is in that state. Make no mistake about, the push for
common rights and acceptance is meant to end the kind of hell some of us
have been put through.
Some of us even went through early experiences with religion. The
message of christianity is supposed to be forgiveness, isn't it?
Believe, ask for forgiveness, and you are forgiven. It is too bad that
there are so many contradicting messages regarding that in the new
testament. The effect this has on a person is different, depending on
the type of person they are. Whatever type of person they, are though,
teaching the message that they are not equal to, and wrong, sinful, is
demoralizing, in a self fulfilling kind of way. If you are taught that
what you naturally are, yes, naturally, as in always were that way, is
wrong and evil... well .. where does that take a person ? You can't
marry. In many places your relationships are mocked. What do you
expect? You think that's the forumla to make soceity a better place?
As anyone with eyes can see, if they bother to look, it is not.

male-to-male sexual contact. As you know, the CDC *includes* bisexuals
