Even less respected in the world |
Even less respected in the world
January 20, 2005 3:28 PM
During her confirmation hearing this week, Condi Rice acknowledged that
the U.S. government has some bridges to rebuild with the rest of the
world. On the day of George Bush’s re-inauguration, a new poll
commissioned by the BBC World Service helps demonstrate how much repair
work remains.
"Our research makes very clear that the re-election of President
Bush has further isolated America from the world," pollster Doug Miller
told The Guardian. "It also supports the view of some Americans that
unless his administration changes its approach to world affairs in its
second term, it will continue to erode America's good name, and hence
its ability to effectively influence world affairs."
That’s not terribly surprising, though it’s worth noting that the
percentage of those polled who disagree with the idea of the U.S. having
a mainly positive impact on the world has gone up 12 percent since last
year, when that view was already approaching majority status. As this
site has noted before, this is a poll of 21 nations, and in only three
(India, the Philippines and, lest we forget, Poland) was Bush’s November
victory viewed positively. Fifty-eight percent of those polled believe
Bush will have a negative impact on peace and security, while only 26
percent think he’ll improve it in the four more years that began earlier
today.

More Bush-bashing. No alternate plans, of course. That would require
thinking.
Btw the less popular George Bush is with short-sighted foreigners, the
better.

Most libs have *nothing* interesting to say these days.
Nothing constructive or amusing either. The vast majority
of their posts can be condensed to "Bush sucks". There's
no point in reading most of their crap anymore.

They're our competitors, of course they dislike anything

A heavily armed military superpower (in possession of WMDs) massacres a
lightly armed (with no WMD) forces.
There was no 'war' in Iraq that the US 'won'.
The US has attacked Iraq on two basic occasions:
1. When Iraq invaded Kuwait and the US went to help, pushed the Iraqis
back into their own country... then occupied about half of Iraq.
Needlessly! Iraq wasn't a viable threat any more to any other country by
then!
2. When, about a decade later, the US illegally fully invaded Iraq
giving blatant lies, and since clearly proven to be lies, as the reason,
overthrew their democratically elected government, with NO EXCUSE, and
proceeded to massacre the Iraqi civilians!
War?
There was no *war*.
There was illegal *invasion*!

LOL, I love it when you left wing globalists talk about
an "illegal" invasion. Illegal implies that there's some
kind of mechanism capable of enforcement.

Well, for me, I don't use a killfile, I just ignore posts that are
meaningless.
David Barnes said
I don't either - I find it kind of cowardly and ignorant. I can handle
these idiots just fine.
Barnes said above, killfiling people is cowardly and ignorant...lets see
what Barnes said Friday, Nov. 15, 2002....

LOL,
You seem to think that acting illegally is somehow 'funny'.
Perhaps you'll grow up some day and become an adult with an
understanding of the reason society (whether local, national or global)
