Press Release
Upholds Florida Parental Notification Act
For Immediate Release: 2/14/2006
Tupelo, MS - American Family Association Center for Law & Policy (CLP) today
hailed yesterday's ruling by federal district court judge William Stafford
dismissing all but one claim brought by two abortionists and four clinics
challenging the constitutionality of the Florida Parental Notice of Abortion
Act.
The act was passed last year after a previous notification law was struck as
unconstitutional by the Florida Supreme Court. In response to that decision,
the citizens of Florida ratified an amendment to the state constitution
specifically allowing the legislature to require notice to parents of their
minor child's attempt to obtain an abortion.
"This is wonderful news for both parents and children," said Stephen
Crampton, Chief Counsel of the CLP, which litigates similar cases throughout
the country. "For too long, the abortion industry has been allowed to wreak
havoc on the family. It is high time the rights of parents were recognized
and respected by the courts."
A strong majority of Americans support laws requiring notification to
parents, and 38 states have some parental involvement provision in place.
"Judge Stafford's well-reasoned opinion reaffirms what Americans have long
known, namely that parents ought to be the first resource for children in
need. Simple common sense teaches that if society is to prosper, they must
support parents and families," Crampton said.
The plaintiffs alleged the law was unconstitutional on grounds of privacy,
vagueness and its imposition of penalties against violators, among others.
The court dismissed all claims but one, challenging the law's requirement
that any judicial bypass efforts must be undertaken in Florida. Plaintiffs
allege that the clause violates the rights of non-residents. That claim will
be briefed next month.

Great, but "good" kids from "good" families don't have sex and thus
don't need abortions. The claim that we are obligated to support
parents and families falls short when there are no "parents" or
"families" but rather dysfunctional groups of people under one roof.
The true harm to society is that the moralizers can't see that.

For the daughters who will be beaten and/or made homeless it is not
wonderful news.

You mean after their parents find out she had an abortion, right?

After they found out she was pregnant.

"Why didn't you tell us you were pregnant?"?

"Because you threw my sister out of the house to live on the street
when you found out she was pregnant."

Who threw who out of their house like that?

Parents with attitudes like yours. I have come across case studies
where this has been the case.

Do you expect to mooch off your parents if you are doing adult things?

If she has not yet reached her majority yet, then it is expected. One
adult thing that most teens are expected to do is get a job. I had my
first at 13. Teens still "mooch" off their parents quite a bit.

"Because you assaulted me the last time I was pregnant/when my sister
got pregnant."

Who assaulted her?

Her parents. That was obvious from the context for anyone with a
working brain.

"Because it was none of your business. It was my decision, not yours."

Because the Pro-Choicers don't want them to know,

Wrong. Pro-choice advocates want to let the person that is pregnant
make the decision for herself, since she knows what her personal
situation actually is.

and Pro-Choicers have been
represented above the parents of the children themselves.

Not so. For some reason, you think that all parents are good parents.
That is not the case, and pro-choie advocates understand this reality.
There are children that have a reason to fear their parents reactions.

Pro-Choice does
not own the children those parents created.

Nor do the parents.

Pro-Choice has no legal right to dictate to parents what their children are
allowed to do.

They do have the legal right, however, to provide mechanisms for the
children to protect themselves and to prevent harm from coming to them.

The list goes on.

None of the reasons you mention are good enough to allow Pro-Choice to order
people who are not their own children around.

Where does anything that pro-choice advocates say order anyone around.
Children remain free to tell their parents about the pregnancy, and
most do without parental notification laws being in place. There is
nothing there on the pro-choice side that requires any actions from
anyone. The person most affected makes the decision about what the
best course of action for herself is.
All the required actions come from the anti-choice advocates. They are
the ones that want to require the your lady to tell her parents about
the pregnancy, even if she suspects or knows that the result of doing
so will be physical, mental, or emortional abuse, being thrown out of
her home, or other detrimental fates. That is why judicial bypasses
are required to be in any parental notification law.

*The very type person whose behavior you Pro-Choicers approve of.

Care to give us example where "pro-choicers" approve of incest and/or
rape? No? Then ***** you, lying *****.

*Since you think abortion is ok in the case of incest, you show
everyone your
*unwillingness to make people behave well enough that such occurrences
such
*as you just mentioned would not occur.

Well, welcome on the planet earth: imagine something horrible, and you
can be sure that something 100 times more horrible has been done!
Stop dreaming, you're not going to eradicate crime... Hey: your
decadent country has death penalty... you'd think that with such a
penalty, the USA would be a safe place, don't you think? What do you
propose to "make people behave well enough"?

*Pro-Choice and the gay blade = harm to society.

Facists, racists, bigots, hypocrites, christian talibans are the true
cancer of your society.

And all but racist describe Johnny. I have never seen him advocate
descrimination just because of a person's race or skin color.

Upholds Florida Parental Notification Act

For Immediate Release: 2/14/2006

hailed yesterday's ruling by federal district court judge William

dismissing all but one claim brought by two abortionists and four
clinics
challenging the constitutionality of the Florida Parental Notice of
Abor=

Act.

The act was passed last year after a previous notification law was

decis=

the citizens of Florida ratified an amendment to the state constitution
specifically allowing the legislature to require notice to parents of

"This is wonderful news for both parents and children," ...

=B7 For daughters who were impregnated by a family member, this is not
wonderful news.

Nor for the daughters of oppressive parents, absent parents, wards of
the state, or abusive parents. Nor it is good news for any women, any
daughters, or anyone with a brain and a heart.

*** Indeed, Mark. A teacher friend told me about a 14-yr old girl in a
local school who contracted a STD from her father, who got it from a
hooker.
