Gas companies that import |
This was sent to me, I am not the originator of this; however, I thought it
was interesting and it should be passed on
....................
Where to Buy Gas
The Saudis are boycotting American goods. We should return the favor. An
interesting thought it to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the car,
you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just buy
from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill-up the
tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family,
and my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil
companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import
Middle Eastern oil (for the period 9/1/00 - 8/31/01):
Shell.........................205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco.........144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil..............130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway...117,740,000 barrels
Amoco......................62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo....................0 barrels
Sunoco............. .0 barrels
Conoco............. ..0 barrels
Sinclair............... 0 barrels
BP/Phillips.......... 0 barrels
Hess...................0 barrels
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each
is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are
importing.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers.
It's really simple to do. Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading
and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I'm sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at
least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more
(300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth
generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If
those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then
30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further,
you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How would all that
take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day
all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next eight
days!

For someone who complains about EVERYTHING this is as OFF TOPIC as you can
get. Maybe someone needs to contact your ISP and file a complaint.

A ludicrous proposition. Do you really think that just because a gas
station has the name "Shell" on it, that it gets all its gas from a
Shell refinery?
The best way to reduce the price of gas is to reduce demand for gas.
Like any commodity, the price of gas is "driven" by consumer demand.

What does this have anything to do with his response? He stated that
the name on the building (Shell, Sunoco, etc) doesn't mean they are
actually buying their gas from a Shellor Sunoco refinery, which means
you may be buying gasoline you believe to not be imported but in fact
it is.
Learn to read, you damn ignorant piece-of-*****...

So what? It doesn't mean ***** about where the gas sitting in the
tanks at the local Shell, Sunoco or BP actually came from...

The demand in China is a major reason prices are so high here. It's
called supply and demand. It doesn't matter where the demand is.

The demand in China is a major reason prices are so high here.
The reason prices are so high right now is because 1) US demand for
gasoline is very high and is increasing. Even as Americans use more
gas, few if any refineries are being built.
2) Instability in the mideast. Uncertainty drives up prices and
Bush's little invasion of Iraq and threats towards other mideast
nations has pushing up the price for crude.
It's
called supply and demand. It doesn't matter where the demand is.
25% of the world's demand is in the US.

Worldwide demand for oil is very high and increasing. China is now
modernizing and for the first time is a major importer. Since there
is only so much oil available and there is a larger market the price
is higher.
I don;t like it any more than you do. I remember gas at .18 (yes, 18
cents) a gallon and would prefer it there again.

But 75 % is not. A few years ago that was 35% or 40% in the US. A
few years from now it will be 15% or 20% even if the absolute numbers
keep rising. It's simply a case of everyone wanting more oil.

Gas is $2+/gal but people still buy gas-guzzling SUVs.
Obviously it's still not too expensive and the oil companies would be

Isn't that the complaint against women and abortion. She made the choice
not to deal with education and savings, just as the women who might not
have dealt with birth control and finds herself pregnant and considering
an abortion.
You willing to make allowance for one woman's choices, but not for the
other? You seem to want a woman to experience the consequences of her
choices in one situation, but not the other.

Oh, and I know PLENTY of veterans who get the same thing if not MORE than I
get.
And private sector workers who haven't served in the military, but
work to prepare your food, produce your household products, the people
who answer the phone to rectify your trivial complaints, the people
who work in nursing homes, the people who work with the folks who are
developmentally disabled, the parents who raise your future benefits

People should work for free? (or people should serve in the military,
for free?)

Work, no. But they should not expect a government handout just for
existing as so many seem to do.
I am not talking about the military, especially those wounded in
combat.

Snicker. Quite the socialist, aren't you? What's next? Have the
government
take over ownership of the oil companies?
What is your solution for the elderly who will freeze this winter because
people like you
think the gas prices are fine and shouldn't be lowered?
AS usual you have no clue as to how economics works. You probably
think a company can set it's own process and charge whatever it likes.
If it was only that simple.
