Graphic Abortion Signs Banned |
On Jan 20, 2004, U.S. Newswire posted a statement by
Operation Rescue West titled: "Abortion Battle Rages:
Bel Aire, Kan. Becomes 1st US City to Outlaw Graphic
Abortion Signs." Go to:

Excerpts:
"Operation Rescue West President Troy Newman faces six
months in jail and a $1,000 fine for daring to take the
Truth Truck to the public streets of Bel Aire, Kansas,
where it has been banned. The Truth Truck is a large
panel truck professionally outfitted with billboard-
sized graphic abortion images and other pro-life
messages.
[...]
"Refusing to bow to threats and intimidation, Newman
returned to Bel Aire and was arrested Thursday on a
misdemeanor building code violation that bans portable
signs from the public streets in this up-scale suburb
of Wichita.
"In an outrageous act of contempt for the First Amendment,
Bel Aire City Attorney Lee E. Parker ruled that the signs
on the truck were in violation of City Ordinance 280
7.102L, a building code that bans the use of signs that
are "calculated to attract the attention of the public."
Although the ordinance mentions a long list of exemptions
to the ordinance, apparently the exercise of the Consti-
tutional Right to Freedom of Speech was not one of them.
[...]
"'The Truth Truck has now been outlawed in the first
American city ever. Apparently the City of Bel Aire
will stop at nothing to make sure that the public never
knows the truth about what its resident, abortion
profiteer Carrie Klaege, does for a living. This is
the rotten fruit of Roe vs. Wade. Babies were first
denied their right to life, now we are being denied
our right to tell the truth about the tragedy of abor-
tion to the general public,' said Troy Newman, president
of Operation Rescue West.

It's amazing how far the Culture of Death will go to stiffle
those who disagree with the mass slaughter of millions of
unborn human beings.
"Freedom of Speech" -- what's that? They think only the
left are allowed to exercise such freedoms in America.

Weren't you the one just bitching about:
"If you don't like the laws, just ignore them -- or so it
seems the Culture of Death bureaucrats in control of the
Idaho health department believe. So far, it seems to
work."
Why are you being a hypocrite now that this guy is breaking the law?

Nothing in this story explains why the "Truth Truck" was banned
from Bel Aire, Kansas. If this so called "Truth Truck" was banned
in an attempt to squelch Operation Rescue's expression of their
opinion and not for some other reason such as safety concerns, then
these pro-liars are right to be concerned and they should appeal
the decision.
