Creation And Evolution
Your Worldview: How do you view the world? There are
essentially two worldviews: Creation and Evolution. Your
worldview determines how you interpret information.
Creation: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth." [Genesis 1:1]
Instant Universe: I believe the physical universe did not
originate from a single point, as supposed by the Big Bang
theory; rather, the physical universe appeared instantly,
being woven upon the immortal and omnipresent Holy Spirit
of the LORD God. If the Holy Spirit is omnipresent and the
physical universe is woven upon said Spirit, then is the
physical universe of infinite dimentions? I doubt it, since
God seems to set boundaries for all created things, as
recorded in various Scriptures (Job 38-41, Isaiah 40:12-17,
Proverbs 30:4, etc.).
Spirit In All: We often hear it said, "God is in all
things", but what does this mean? I believe the physical
is built on the Spirit; the Spirit sustains life and order;
the Spirit must be present before the physical can be born;
without the Spirit, the physical cannot exist; and if the
Spirit were removed, the physical would collapse into
nothingness. God's Holy Spirit permeates all things, is
present in the smallest particle of matter, and hears and
instantly obeys the voice of God. Through His Holy Spirit,
God is able to instantly change all the laws which govern
His creation.
Changeable Laws: Initially, the universe was created
perfect (without decay and death); the universe later fell
into a state of imperfection when decay and death were
introduced into it at the fall of man, when man sinned
against God by partaking of the forbidden fruit; the
universe will eventually be restored to its initial state
of perfection: "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth,
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away."
[Revelation 21:1] Thus, the current laws which govern the
universe are temporary. If we build our knowledge upon
temporary laws, then our knowledge is likewise temporary.
While physical laws may be temporary, spiritual laws are
absolute and eternal. Therefore, is not spiritual knowledge
better than physical knowledge?
Finite Universe: The following is an enigma designed for
your amusement and possible edification: If the universe
had a beginning, it cannot be infinite. For that which is
infinite must, of necessity, also be immortal, having no
beginning and no end. We are told that God is perfect, but
His creation is currently in a state of imperfection:
"...because the creation itself also will be delivered from
the bondage of corruption (decay) into the glorious liberty
of the children of God." [Romans 8:21] If the universe
were infinite and also imperfect, there would be no place
for a perfect God. But God is Spirit, and, therefore, does
not require space in which to exist. But how can something,
even spirit, exist in nothingness? There's the mystery of
God. Furthermore, we are told that God is not subject to
the laws of His creation, for God is above all laws, powers,
and principalities. Therefore, God must be external to His
creation.
Creation Days: The word of God states that the earth and
its contents and its creatures were created in six days.
However, some have questioned the actual duration of each
Creation Day. The word of God was written for man in
accordance with the understanding of man, stating: "So
the evening and the morning were the first (second, third,
fourth, fifth, sixth) day." [Genesis 1:5,8,13,19,23,31]
Generally speaking, an evening (night) is a twelve-hour
period; a morning (day) is also a twelve-hour period; thus,
each Creation Day is composed of twenty-four hours. Some
may argue: "Since the sun was created on the fourth day,
how can there be mornings and evenings prior to the
existence of the sun?" The answer is simple: Time exists
-- with or without the light of the sun. Moreover, God is
a source of light, as it is written: "They need no lamp
nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light."
[Revelation 22:5]
The Power Of God: Personally, I believe that things came
into existence as soon as God spoke; then He spent the
remaining 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds observing
His creation. I say this because God concludes that His
creations were "good" and "very good". [Genesis 1:10,12,
18,21,25,31] In order for God to draw conclusions regarding
His time-bound creations, He must have had time to observe
them. Furthermore, I believe that things appeared instantly
at the spoken word of God because of the following passsage:
"We shall not all sleep (die), but we shall all be changed
-- in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be
raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this
corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must
put on immortality." [1 Corinthians 15:51-53] Thus we see
that God's creations happen instantly, "in the twinkling of
an eye", which is approximately one-tenth of a second. Here
is further evidence supporting instantaneous creation: One
lifeform depends upon another, which depends upon another,
which depends upon another, etc. In order for this system
to work, all lifeforms must exist concurrently and remain
constant (unchanging). Here is even more evidence in
support of instantaneous creation: Vegetation was created
on the third day (Genesis 1:11-13), yet the sun was created
on the fourth day (Genesis 1:16-19), and we all know that
vegetation depends upon the sun for life-support; therefore,
the sun must have come into existence shortly after the
vegetation, else the vegetation would have perished (unless,
of course, as mentioned earlier, there was another source of
light). Yet there is even more evidence of instantaneous
creation: "And Moses placed the rods before the LORD in the
tabernacle of witness. Now it came to pass on the next day
that Moses went into the tabernacle of witness, and behold,
the rod of Aaron, of the house of Levi, had sprouted and put
forth buds, had produced blossoms and yielded ripe almonds."
[Numbers 17:7-8] Thus, a wooden rod produced ripe almonds
in a single day. See Numbers 17:1-13 for more details.
For even more evidence, see the book of Jonah: "But the
LORD said, 'You have had pity on the plant for which you
have not laboured, nor made it grow, which came up in a
night and perished in a night.'" [Jonah 4:10] Want even
more evidence of instantaneous creation? See the "valley
of dry bones" passage in Ezekiel 37:1-10. As you can see,
God does not require massive amounts of time in order to
create whatever He desires. Remember that God is not
limited by space and time; God is not bound by physical law;
God can instantly create whatever He desires. For example,
if God wanted to turn every atom in the universe into
carbon, He would simply speak the command, and the universe
would be instantly filled with nothing but carbon. This is
how powerful God is.
Why Seven Days: Why would an all-powerful supernatural
(not subject to physical laws) creator take six agonizingly
long 24-hour days to complete His creation? And why would
a tireless creator stop to rest? "Thus the heavens and the
earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the
seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He
rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had
done (in the previous six days)." [Genesis 2:1-2] "The
everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the
earth, neither faints nor is weary." [Isaiah 40:28] So,
why would a tireless all-powerful God take six long days
to create the heavens and the earth, and why would He rest
on the seventh day? To set an example/pattern for man:
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you
shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is
the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no
work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor you man-
servant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your
stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the
LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that
is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD
blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." [Exodus 20:8-11]
Limiting God: It is in our nature to limit God in
accordance with our own understanding. Since we require
large amounts of time to build something grand, we assume
that God likewise requires large amounts of time to
accomplish His goals. But consider the following Scripture:
"So the LORD said to him (Moses), 'What is that in your
hand?' And he said, 'A rod.' And He said, 'Cast it on the
ground.' So he cast it on the ground, and it became a
serpent; and Moses fled from it." [Exodus 4:2-3] Notice
that God instantly turned a wooden rod into a living
serpent; God did not require vast amounts of time to do
this. In fact, God is not subject to the laws of His
creation; and God is certainly not bound by time. We must
realize that God can manipulate matter in ways that man
cannot comprehend; and God has hidden this knowledge from
man, being aware of his destructive ways. Remember: "With
God all things are possible." [Matthew 19:26] Therefore,
do not limit God in accordance with your own understanding:
"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways
My ways,' says the LORD. 'For as the heavens are higher
than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and
My thoughts than your thoughts.'" [Isaiah 55:8-9]
Science Of Creation: "In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth." [Genesis 1:1] "In the beginning
was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were
made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that
was made." [John 1:1-3] From these Scriptures, God informs
us that He created all things through His spoken word,
however, He does not provide us with His "scientific
methods". Why? Because the sea of knowledge is vast, and
man's life is short; therefore, God did not want to distract
man with details irrelevant to his purpose on the earth:
To learn the ways of good and evil, and to choose one and
to reject the other. Our greater purpose on the earth is
to observe the Spirit of the Creator, rather than the
physical functionalities of His creation.
All Knowledge Is One: All knowledge is related. However,
the sea of knowledge is so vast that man, recognizing the
limits of his mind, divides knowledge into categories, that
its digestion may be easier. Thus, the knowledge-seeker
who separates the spiritual from the physical will forever
remain in frustration, since nothing of substance will ever
make complete sense, since part of the "equation" will
always be missing.
Evolution: Evolution is a theory which claims that all
life on earth was produced through gradual development from
simple to more complex lifeforms; a process by which species
develop from earlier forms, as an explanation of their
origins. If Evolution is purely natural and precludes a
supernatural creator, then all lifeforms are the product of
chance and random interactions. The problem with Evolution
is this: Evolution is genetically impossible; genes -- the
instructions which tell an organism how to develop -- simply
do not operate in a manner conducive to Evolution.
Evolution has progressed from an unscientific theory to a
religion. Why a religion? A religion answers two
questions: First, "What is the origin of life?"; second,
"What is the purpose of life?" Evolution answers both these
questions: First, life is the subsequential product of a
random incident, commonly referred to as the "Big Bang";
second, life has no purpose -- we come from the dust and we
return to the dust, that is our beginning and our end. As a
religion, Evolution offers the greatest degree of freedom:
The only law is "survival of the fittest"; there is no
Standard and no Judgement; every man is free to do whatever
he pleases, without fear of consequence. The most
incredible thing about Evolution is the mechanism by which
law and order proceeded from chaos (the Big Bang); to
believe that law and order actually proceeded from chaos
requires a great deal of faith -- another major component
of religion. Evolution is nothing new; it is an ancient
philosophy which tries to explain everything without the
need of a creator: "The fool has said in his heart, 'There
is no God.'" [Psalm 14:1] Evolution is upheld by those who
fear the Day of Judgement of God.
Innocent Questions: Time and stability are essential
components in Evolution, as the process of evolution
requires vasts amounts of time and a stable environment.
First question: It is a known fact that the sun is
critical to life on the earth, and that small changes in
the sun has tremendous effects on life on the earth; it
is also known that the sun is constantly changing (like a
bonfire, the sun is currently exhausting its limited fuel,
and will eventually burn out). Thus, my first question
is: If the evolutionary process requires vasts amounts of
time, and if the sun is constantly changing, and the sun has
significant effects on life on the earth, how can evolution
occur under such unstable and hostile circumstances?
Second question: Geological records, which are subjective,
indicate that the earth may be regularly visited by global
catastrophies, supposedly causing major setbacks in the
evolutionary process. Thus, my second question is: In the
presence of such catastrophies, how can evolution have the
opportunity to produce any type of "complex" lifeforms --
such as man? Third question: According to the law of
multiplication, only a few thousand years are needed in
order to saturate the earth with life. If evolution has
been ongoing for millions of years, why is the earth not
yet filled with "higher" lifeforms? Fourth question: Does
the process of evolution require the introduction of new
genetic information? If so, how does the new genetic
information arise? And how did the original genetic code of
the first lifeform arise? Everything in the universe is in
a state of decay ending in death; things are getting worse,
not better; things are devolving, not evolving. It appears
that the logic of Evolution fails to compute under practical
circumstances: Time works against Evolution.
Simple And Complex: The Cell And The Computer: A single
living cell is vastly more complex than a fully-functioning
personal computer. Would you expect time and chance to
produce a fully-functioning personal computer? If not, how
can time and chance produce a single living cell, which is
considerably more complex than a computer? In order for a
computer to do something intelligent, it must first be
programmed by an intelligent programmer; and the same can
be said of a living cell. Both computers and cells execute
pre-programmed code. Computers execute binary code; cells
execute genetic code. Computers frequently fail; cells
have continued to perform their functions for thousands of
years. If we say that time and chance can produce a living
cell, then we must concede that time and chance can also
produce a fully-functioning computer, yet we know that the
production of a computer requires much effort on the part
of intelligent beings. If it were possible for time and
chance to produce an intelligent device, it is far more
probable that a personal computer would be produced before
a single living cell, since the computer is much simpler
than the cell. In my opinion, both the computer and the
cell must be products of intelligence rather than time and
chance, but one requires greater intelligence than the
other.
Why Two Unique Genders: Of all the possibilities, why did
Evolution produce exactly two unique genders? Why not three
or more? Why not one? Is one not more efficient than two?
If Evolution is based on "survival of the fittest", why did
males, being stronger, not eliminate females in the aeons
of evolutionary processes? If a man's instinct is to
survive, why would he waste his time and energy in the
raising of offspring, knowing they might become his rivals?
In other words, why did he not eliminate them at birth?
"Survival of the fittest" is based on self-centredness and
self-preservation, which leads to extinction due to neglect
of offspring.
God's Two Genders: From an evolutionary point of view,
I cannot answer why there should be exactly two genders;
however, God knows why He created two genders. Consider
the following passages: "So God created man in His own
image; in the image of God He created him; male and female
He created them." [Genesis 1:27] And, "Therefore a man
shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
and they shall become one flesh." [Genesis 2:24] God made
man and woman to live in extemely close quarters; and God
knew that such closeness would inevitably produce friction
and conflict between the two. Thus, God provided a
mechanism by which to avoid conflict: He made one stronger
than the other. Here's how it works: A husband, knowing
that he is stronger than his wife, is reluctant to engage
her in physical battle -- knowing that such a campaign would
be unfair; a wife, knowing that she is weaker than her
husband, is reluctant to arouse his anger -- knowing that
she would be at a disadvantage should any physical
competition ensue. Thus, the peace is kept. However, if a
husband misuses his strength against his wife, he is a fool,
for he attacks his own house; and if a wife provokes her
husband to anger, she is also a fool, for a house divided
against itself cannot stand.
Irreconcilable Differences: If you believe the word of
God, then you cannot believe in Evolution. Here's why:
According to Evolution, the cycle of life and death has
been ongoing for millions of years, whereas the word of God
states that death entered into the creation at the fall of
man, which occurred approximately six thousand years ago:
"Therefore, just as through one man (Adam) sin entered the
world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all
men, because all sinned." [Romans 5:12] "But now Christ
is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of
those who have fallen asleep (died). For since by man came
death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For
as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made
alive." [1 Corinthians 15:20-22] Thus, we see that death
entered into the creation when man sinned against God by
partaking of the forbidden fruit, which occurred only about
six thousand years ago -- not millions of years ago.
The Fall Of Man: In addition to Evolution's "endless"
cycle of life and death, there is another problem: the fall
of man. If Evolution is fact, then man was not created
perfect; he did not sin; he did not fall into a state of
decay ending in death due to his sin; and he does not need
a saviour to rescue him from his fallen state and reconcile
him to God. As you can see, Evolution denies that man was
created perfect; denies that man sinned; and denies that man
needs a saviour, thereby denying Jesus as being the saviour
of man. But what else would you expect from an atheistic
religion?
Evolution Reconsidered: Darwin's theory of Evolution was
based upon appearances and similarities among creatures.
Darwin can, however, be forgiven for his unscientific
conclusions -- after all, he did not have access to our
modern technology. If you think Evolution is factual, I
encourage you to study the science of Genetics. Once you
observe the intricate genetic code which define life, you
will probably conclude that life is the product of extreme
intelligence -- rather than random chance. Then, you will
begin to ask questions like, "What is the source of this
intelligence?" and, "What is the purpose of this
intelligence?" It is my opinion that history will record
Evolution as the greatest fraud of our time.
