You've identified the incorrect psychosis; schizophrenics hear voices in
their heads, they are not "split personalities". At the time the book
Sybil came out psychiatrists were calling that disorder "multiple
personality disorder" these days it's called "Disassociative Identity
Disorder" and 9 times out of 10 is caused by sexual abuse committed
against children. Hey! J is Catholic isn't he? That would explain so much :)
