Issues The Anti-Choice Crowd Carefully Avoid #4 |
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4318131.stm
revealed that measles **DEATHS** had fallen by almost 40% over the
five years surveyed. Deaths. From measles, a disease that we pretty
much ignore in the west these days because we're so good at fighting
it.
BUT EVEN IN 2003, THERE WAS A DEATH-A-MINUTE FROM MEASLES.
Why don't the so-called "pro-lifers" get up in arms about this?
Because they're hypocrites. These deaths occur in nations where the
babies are brown and why would "pro-lifers" care about those off-white
kids when they can show a picture of an aborted white fetus and make
dollars?
According to the article, "It costs less than $1 to immunise a child
with the measles vaccine."
Prayer won't prevent or cure measles. Never has. Religion won't do
it. No god ever came down and wiped out a disease. Science did. A
vaccine will.
Why doesn't a god do something about this? If this god so loved the
world that he gave his only begotten son, why is he letting so many
other sons and daughters die?
Or is there no god at all, just an impotent myth that keeps frightened
children (most of whom are adults) feeling safe in their beds at
night?

That's only if it is a botched operation and they take out the heart
by mistake. ;)
I think what the previous statement should have been is "Every
abortion results in the death of an organism." In a sense, an
amputation of the arm is not a death in our present vernacular.
Although it could be argued that the arm died. But that does not need
to result in what common ussage of the term reffers to...the death of
the patient...and yes, one of our local doctors in a recent article he
wrote in the paper, reffered to the unborn as a patient. So, even more
precisely worded statement should have been..."Every abortion results
in the death of a patient as a direct result of the care given by the
attending physician." In this case, I use the word "care" loosely.
you probably want to rethink your failed logic.
The wording might have been a bit better, but there is nothing wrong
with the logic that was presented. There is not a single physician
that you will find anywhere that will call the unborn a tumor. The
failed logic is to consider them on equal footing as you have done.
So, my friend, it would seem that you are guilty of the charge that
you leveled against BAM. Now show some civility and apologise to BAM.

Jesus instructed his followers to arm them selves even if they had
to sell their coats to buy one. Swords were the best defense weapons
at that time. Nothing in the teachings of Jesus indicates that he had
any idea about voting for rulers. But he was very much the Liberal,
and I doubt he would vote for today's Republican. Assuming that the
stories are true.
To attack Catholics, who have had such wonderful people as Mother
Theresa among their ranks, for a lack of compassion toward the poor
and ill is perhaps one of the most laughable things ever heard of.
Yeah, *she* was a real peach, wasn't she? LoL!

The part that starts out with sentences like "[I]It the stupid fuckers
would follow his teaching, they wouldn't be a problem..."
If there was no Jesus, how can there be a "teaching" from this Jesus?
And what evidence are you offering that there wouldn't be a problem if
people followed what is purported to be his teaching? Are you saying
we should abandon our families and follow a myth? That we should take
up swords? That we should wander around and panhandle instead of
holding down a useful job? That if someone steals our coat we should
give them our shirt, thereby encouraging and condoning theft and let
them get away with it? That if someone kidnaps us we should go
willingly twice as far as they intended to take us? That we should
blindly curse trees for not fruiting out of season? Shall I go on?

Mr. Webber;
Given the archeological errors in the Bible, the conflicting and
mutually contradictory accounts of creation, and a very flawed dating
system, wholly apart from the fact that the larger number of books were not
written until the era of Nebuchadnezzar II, I believe that I am safe in
saying that the Bible can hardly be used for a historical reference.

You're quite safe saying that. Your mistake is in thinking that Duck
& Run has even one brain cell capable of addressing it. He doesn't.
His only purpose on Usenet is to repeatedly demonstrate that fact!
LoL!
Notice how he quite stupidly makes the assertions about his god and
this Jesus myth without offering a single shred of the objective
evidence that I asked for? That's becuase he cannot offer such a
thing and he knows it. All he can do is make vacuous assertions.

Let me try and spell this out to you so even you can grasp what this
series is all about:
1.
There are people who are desperately seeking to remove choice from
women over what they do with their bodies.
Some of them are called rapists.
Others call **THEMSELVES** pro-life.
2.
The fat bulk of this latter group (and probably the majority of the
former), and all the vocal ones, also call themselves Christians.
That is, they claim to believe in and follow Jesus Christ.
3.
Jesus Christ is a myth, but he purportedly told everyone that his
return was so imminent (2,000 years ago this is) that they should give
up everything and follow him.
4.
Christian churches have millions of dollars.
5.
They didn't give up everything.
6.
They could spend this money (money that Jesus told them to get rid of)
on saving real lives of real, post-partum children who die by the
literal MILLIONS for want of a dollar for a vaccine or ten dollars for
a mosquito net.
7.
They don't, yet they whine about "abortion deaths" while doing nothing
to prevent deaths that they could easily fix almost literally
overnight.
8.
They're hypocrites.
No you can be in denial about this as much as you want, but these are
the facts.

Ah, guilt by association. It=E8s a disingenious tactic. You might as
well say: There's water in the toilet. There's water in your drinking
glass. You drink from the toilet. Yuck!!!
Try to make sense. A rapist is a violent person who uses sex as a
weapon. A pro-lifer uses peaceful means to encourage lawmakers and
citizens to take action so that unborn babies will be protected from
death at the hands of an abortionist.
The rapist hurts women.
The pro-lifer protects children.
2.
The fat bulk of this latter group (and probably the majority of the

They do follow Jesus Christ.
3.
Jesus Christ is a myth, but he purportedly told everyone that his
return was so imminent (2,000 years ago this is) that they should give
up everything and follow him.
The existence of Jesus is one of the best-documented facts of
antiquity. The comment about giving up everything has to be put in the
context of other comments where Jesus told His followers to bring
things with them. Then, as now, it depended on the situation. In any
case, the comments about giving up everything were clearly never meant
to entail giving up literally everything since that would have meant
the disciples would have been naked as they walked from town to town.
4.
Christian churches have millions of dollars.
Some do, yes.
5.
They didn't give up everything.
That's correct. But they were never intended to give up everything.
6.
They could spend this money (money that Jesus told them to get rid of)
on saving real lives of real, post-partum children who die by the
literal MILLIONS for want of a dollar for a vaccine or ten dollars for
a mosquito net.
Christians do spend a great deal of money helping to save the lives of
children and adults as well. If you're looking for the millions of
dollars to which you referred, you may want to look at the amount of
money spent helping others by Christian charities.
7.
They don't, yet they whine about "abortion deaths" while doing nothing
to prevent deaths that they could easily fix almost literally
overnight.
That's simply untrue.
8.
They're hypocrites.
No you can be in denial about this as much as you want, but these are

These are not the facts. Just about everything you've said is
inaccurate.
I do get one thing, though. It's become crystal clear to me that
you're not at all interested in presenting the truth about the
situation in your postings but are, instead, just trying to bait
Christians.
