Now that is out of my system, a little off topic I know, but the
English system allows consent by people under the age of consent,
basically meaning that say, if a thirty o ne year old slept with a
fifteen year old (Age of consent is 16 here) and it were consensual,
the thirty one year old would face underage sex charges but not rape
charges, if a fifteen year old were to have sex with a fifteen year old
then the charges would be ignored.
However, Robbins was abusing a position of trust, regardless of whether
the sex was consensual or not, therefore charges should be brought
(back to US law here) regardless of the issue of consent, as, firstly,
US law does not recognise consent by the underage as informed consent
and, secondly, Robbins was in a position of trust.
