Jewish leaders ask Pope to press Iran not to develop nuclear weapons |
After years of unjustified criticism directed at the church hierarchy,
the Jews now expect the Holy See to kowtow to their sniveling pleas
for protection. Because His Holiness is a merciful and loving man, I'm
sure the Vatican will do all that it can to help.

to use his moral authority to stop Iran from developing nuclear
weapons that could be used against Israel.
The letter, which the pope received during a three-day visit to
Austria last week, said Jews were greatly concerned that more than 60
years after the Holocaust, Iran is "officially threatening the
state of Israel with 'destruction and obliteration."'
It goes on to ask the pope, referred to as one of the world's most
important moral authorities, to do everything in his power to prevent
a "possible catastrophe for all of humanity."
The letter was co-signed by Vienna's chief rabbi and the head of
Vienna's Jewish Community.
Iran insists its nuclear program is only for energy, but the United
States and its Western allies fear it is a cover for making weapons.
