Kerry's a Post Turtle |
While suturing a laceration on the hand of an 80-year-old, grizzled
Texas rancher (whose hand had been caught in a gate while working
cattle), the doctor and the old man were talking about John Kerry's
possibility of being in the White House.
The old Texan said, "Well, ya know, Kerry's one of them 'post turtles.'"
Not knowing what the old man meant, the doctor asked him what a 'post
turtle' was.
The old man said, "Well, when you're drivin' down a country road and
you come across a fencepost with a turtle balanced on top, that's a
post turtle."
The old man saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued
to explain, "You know:
* he didn't get there by hisself;
* he don't belong there;
* he cain't get anythin' done while he's up there;
* and you just want to help the poor dumb thang
get down 'afore he hurts hisself."

Funny thing - that joke was making the rounds four years ago, but the
subject was GEORGE W. BUSH. I think it's more applicable to aWol,
myself; especially the 1st two items. As for the fourth, if Bush is
elected, he WILL fall and 'hurts hisself'.

After the debate, it's even more applicable. Listening to left-wing Air
America radio, I heard many *Kerry* voters-to-be saying that they found
themselves feeling sorry for Bush. The hosts had to keep pointing out this
was misplaced sympathy.

I didn't watch the debates, I was in class and then had to go to work. But I
did see some of the clips on the news and listened to others who did watch
the debates. From what I saw, Kerry came off looking pretty good. Both
made good points. But as one person said to me, he noticed that the
questions seemed loaded and all in favor of Kerry. It appeared that this
was to try and put Bush up against the wall.
We will see what happens, from what I am reading this morning it doesn't
appear that the debate really swayed voters one way or the other.
The independant voters are usually the voters you have to reach. Democrats
and Republicans are most likely always going to stick with their party or
they just will not vote at all. I have heard many people say from both
sides, if they don't like their candidate they prefer not to vote at all
before they will cross the line.
I think the first debate is like a boxing match, the first round the boxers
are sizing themselves up..getting a feel for the others persons style and
how that person is going to fight. The next debate will most likely be a
lot different, and maybe this time Kerry's questions will put him on the
defense. I want to know about all those absences of his from the senate. As
a senator, you would think you should expect him to be there to vote and do
his job. Kerry appears to have been AWOL many times.

Speaking of that...
I just heard John Zogby today (yes, today - they're doing a new Sunday show
until the election) on Air America predicting a Kerry win. Last week -
*BEFORE* the debate - undecideds were asked "Does the president deserve
another term?" The answer was overwhelmingly, "No." Zogby doesn't think the
debates will make that much of a difference, except for water-cooler type
talk.
This is barring whatever surprise Karl Rove pulls out of his sleeve at the
last minute. Oddly, "something" took down Zogby's entire phone system while
they were doing their latest poll, which they're now re-doing. Hmmm.
(Actual Zogby quotes: "I know I'm going out on a limb here, but I think
that, from now on out, people will be looking for reasons why they shouldn't
vote for 'that tall guy'". And, "Both candidates get 40 percent just for
showing up", and these core voters won't change "unless Bush or Kerry turns
out to be a serial killer.")
Zogby says it's the first time he's seen this level of difference in this
election. This - again barring Karl Rove's October surprise - is what he's
been looking for.
Incidentally, they also had a guy from Gallup on. He said they don't
"oversample" Republicans. But they ask it as the last question: "With which
party do you have most in common" or something like that. He says it swings
all the time. Zogby, meanwhile, says he considers party affiliation "almost
a demographic" like whether you are married or not. It doesn't change that
much over time. Whom you say you support does, but not the party you are
registered with and ultimately identify with. So Zogby asks such a question
towards the beginning, and then uses the answer to weight the results. I'm
not explaining it as well as he did but it makes a lot of sense.

The usual pleasant smells of autumn are of late overpowered by the
palpable stench of desperate fear on the part of hysterical leftists.
Did I say 42 states, Izzy? Make it 44! Maybe Rather and the brass at
CBS ought to just shut down the newsroom on Nov 2 and 3 and resume
operations on the 4th. While I love to watch these sanctimonious
assholes go for the hankies on election night, it's not a pleasant
sight for most people. This one will be X-rated. Hee hee!

And every time a fair-minded and sensible egalitarian opposes

Jackass shows again that the neocon's ability to debate the issues in
non-existant. It's all about attacking the "enemy" using whatever
lies and smears available.
