More U.S. Teens Are Shunning Risky Behaviors |
This type of news only vindicates those of us who advocate family values and
decency. The liberals may be shunning our message but mainstream America
embraces it. There is, however, still a long way to go but the news is
encouraging.

THURSDAY, June 8 (HealthDay News) -- Risky health behaviors -- such as
unsafe motor vehicle use, sexual activity, and tobacco and alcohol use --
are on the decline among American youth.
But the downward trend isn't steep enough, a new U.S. government report
finds, and disparities between racial and ethnic groups are still
discouragingly high.
"We're delighted that we're seeing some progress, but the reality is that
risk-behavior levels are just way too high," said Howell Wechsler, director
of the division of adolescent and school health at the U.S. Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention. "We want to celebrate that most of the risk
behaviors are going in right direction, but they're not going down fast
enough so we have a lot more work to do."

Since when is killing, suffering, and abject servitude the "right thing"?

Let's see an example of what Bitchin' Bonney would consider "the right thing
to do" in a given situation. *points to his sig*

No. This news (however true it may be) contradicts the hollering by all
those paranoid "family values and decency" types who keep on screaming
for more and more restrictive legislation and religious intrusion into
our laws, citing some alleged nationwide spiral descent into depravity
that supposedly must be checked.
If things are getting "better," then what's the need for drastic action?

This is what distinguishes genuine conservatives from NeoCons.
Conservatives support smaller government, less spending and less
government intrusion. The NeoCons have, however, taken over the
republican party, with the help of gullible fundies who think they are
actually part of the "in" crowd, but the tables are turning as more
and more traditional conservatives see how the NeoCons are destroying
the country. In particular, it accounts for Bush's 29% poll ratings.

you continue to demonstrate your ignorance of usenet newsgroups,
scumball, and your disrespect for readers' ability to decide for
themselves what is and is not appropriate.
do you feel like a hypocrite criticizing others for doing what you
do? even osprey has legitimately commented on your hypocrisy.
your hypocrisy aside, what you might want to do to make yourself feel
like an even bigger ***** is take a random sample of posts you've
whined about and then search google for the number of posts with this
topic, demonstrating that readers know what is of interest to them
far better than you do.

What does this have to do with your sick and warped brand of "family
values" and "decency," which is nothing but a smokescreen for
institutionalized theocratic bigotry and hate. There is certainly no
indication in the article that this is the case.
In particular, prove that people who advocate your brand of "family
values" (e.g., not teaching the proper use of condoms, etc.) are any
more concerned about the welfare of their kids than anybody else.
Prove that redneck fundies are less likely to get involved in road
races and traffic accidents than, say, gays. Indeed, prove NeoCons
are more likely to oppose sending their kids off the fight in Oil Wars
guaranteed only to increase profits for the BushCo mob.
"Almost two-thirds (63 percent) of sexually active students reported
using a condom during the last sexual intercourse, up considerably
from 46 percent in 1991." Thank you for conceding that condom use is
part of your "family values and decency."
Take credit for things you are responsible for, not things you
actively discourage. This change is a result of education which you
and your ilk are opposed to.
