New Orleans will be rebuilt on the taxpayer's dime |
Why should someone, such as myself, who does not live in Louisiana be taxed
so that New Orleans can build a bigger wall for itself? Protecting New
Orleans from a hurricane was a Louisiana issue. Recent events are evidence of
what happens when states rely too much on their sugar daddy Uncle Sam.

Tell that to the thousands of American farmers and manufacturers
who can't get their goods to market through the Port of New Orleans
because of Bush's ignorance and incompetence.

Really? Then perhaps you can point to the clause in the Constitution that
allows the federal government to spend money building levees around New
Orleans. It doesn't seem to be in my copy.

Why should someone, such as myself, who does not live in Louisiana
be taxed
so that New Orleans can build a bigger wall for itself? Protecting
New Orleans from a hurricane was a Louisiana issue. Recent events
are evidence of
what happens when states rely too much on their sugar daddy Uncle
Sam.
The yank me..me...me.... me... me.... sydrome
totally sickening, but known thoughout the free world ..and they
wonder why we hate them.
Don't overgeneralize. There are yanks, like me, who find the
fucking attitude of the ignorant ones repulsive.
Really? Then perhaps you can point to the clause in the Constitution
that allows the federal government to spend money building levees
around New Orleans. It doesn't seem to be in my copy.
Then your constitution is broken.
No it isn't. Private enterprise will always outperform government.
Can we expect private enterprise helicopters
Private charities have no problem getting into diaster areas
and militia to reach Nyorleans any time soon?
The National Guard is allowed to be used by the states for disaster relief
and such. The federal government is not allowed to use the military in such
a manner.
Of course our all knowing government made everyone surrender their means of
self-defense as a condition of being granted shelter in the Superdome. Now
they are at the mercy of looters and the government.

I think we should have instead given each a handgun as they entered.

"We could potentially defeat the Sunni insurgents if we were willing and
able to deploy sufficient troops to control the key infiltration routes
that run along the Tigris and Euphrates river valleys. But we are neither
willing nor able. It would require at least 380,000 troops devoted
exclusively to that mission."
