This is Catholic-bashing, pure and simple. This utter hatred and
obscenity should make every decent person feel revulsion. Had a scandal
of this nature been directed towards any other group of people, the
outrage would be justifiably deafening. The government of Taiwan owes
Catholics worldwide an apology.

TAIWAN has withdrawn an anti-AIDS campaign ad featuring a smiling nun
holding a condom after it sparked an outcry from Roman Catholics.
The poster, which shows the nun holding the condom with both hands and
saying "Although I don`t need one, even I know," had been removed from
all condom machines in Taipei hospitals, subway stations and elsewhere.
"As a nun, I can`t agree with their way of expressing things," a church
spokeswoman said on Wednesday. "This is a serious insult."
Nuns take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and the Vatican
considers all forms of contraception a sin.

the younger the girl is, the greater the chance that she is a virgin
and HIV-free.
Many Catholic priests force nuns to have sex with them for the same
reason.
In the circumstances, nuns would be well advised to carry condoms.
Unlike the "West", where most priests are homosexual, African priests
are heterosexual and have no problems in ignoring vows of chastity.

scandal of this nature been directed towards any other group of

You're absolutely right! The Taiwanese government should reinstate the
anti-AIDS campaign at *once*!! It's an insult to every Catholic
everywhere that they removed it just because of some wicked and unfair
stereotype about "Papists" not giving a flying ***** about what happens
to "sinners" (i.e. people who dare to enjoy sex outside of marriage) in
this life.
And how many of these "people who dare to enjoy sex outside of
marriage", don't use condoms because the Church says not to?
Lots of Catholics "fool around" (on their SOs, or while still single)
without using condoms.
Oh, hey -- speaking of Catholics who have sex without condoms -- there
is this Catholic priest in the Portland, OR area who got some woman
knocked up. The kid has major health problems, and the woman sued the
archdiocese of Portland and her ex-lover the priest for health care
benefits (and back child support). The RCC"s defense? "She should have
used birth control." I kid you not. "She should have used birth
control." Can you believe that *****? Oh, and the RCC lost the case.
Sounds (sadly) typical, really...
Typical for the extracurricular affair, atypical for the woman having
the guts to stand up and demand what's rightfully her kid's.

Catholics, since she isn't one to begin with.
I just let the /known/ Catholics "influence my opinion" of Catholics -- they
do a *fine* job of defending the atheist viewpoint, AFAICT.;-{P}

TAIWAN has withdrawn an anti-AIDS campaign ad featuring a smiling nun
holding a condom after it sparked an outcry from Roman Catholics.
The poster, which shows the nun holding the condom with both hands and
saying "Although I don`t need one, even I know," had been removed from
all condom machines in Taipei hospitals, subway stations and elsewhere.
"As a nun, I can`t agree with their way of expressing things," a church
spokeswoman said on Wednesday. "This is a serious insult."
Nuns take vows of poverty, chastity and obedience and the Vatican
considers all forms of contraception a sin.
LOL, the nuns that lived in the convent behind my house had, and "used"
condoms regularly! Not all of them, but a fair percentage were active
sexually, with a couple of men. The majority of them were lesbians
though, and they put on an amazing show sometimes. I suppose there were
a few that did keep their vows, but it was very few, at least on the
side of the building I could see.
They didn't seem to understand that even if they were on the 2nd, 3rd,
or 4th floor, they needed to close their blinds!
I've always wondered why some people think they are invisible when they
go upstairs..
I wasn't about to tell them they weren't!

• 23-hours of chastity a day is plenty.

It was a Catholic who invented birth control. Too bad the vatican
doesn't utilize it more often, it would save themselves great
embarassment when yet another fetal grave is found adjacent to a
convent.
