Ohio Abortion Proposal Not Expected To Pass
COLUMBUS -- A proposal to make abortion illegal in the state of Ohio
is being criticized by opponents, claiming it is an outrageous attack
on women, their families, and their doctors. The bill is not expected
to pass during a hearing at the Statehouse on Tuesday.
Rep. Tom Brinkman, a conservative Republican, is sponsoring the bill
that will completely ban abortion. The bill could also make it a
felony to transport a woman to another state for an abortion.
The proposal is considered harsher than South Dakota's abortion law --
currently the most restrictive in the United States -- because it bans
abortion even in cases of rape.
