Ohio Judge Allows Investigation of Planned Parenthood Records |
Justice will finally be served. Planned Parenthood cannot just blatantly
obstruct the law without consequence. Performing any medical procedure on a
child requires parental or guardian consent, plus; child molestors should
not be left free to prey on more innocent victims.

'Right to privacy' superseded by state laws on abortion and child abuse.
An Ohio judge ordered Cincinnati's Planned Parenthood Clinic on June 21 to
release the records of all abortion patients under 18 to lawyers who
represent the family of a minor who had an abortion there.
The girl was 13 when her 21-year-old boyfriend took her to the clinic for an
abortion, claiming to be her stepbrother.
According to the lawsuit filed by the girl's family, Planned Parenthood didn
't contact the girl's parents to obtain parental consent, required by Ohio
law, or report to law enforcement that a minor had had sex with an adult.
The suit further claims that Planned Parenthood failed to obtain the
informed consent of the girl, who did not understand the scope of her
decision.
The family's lawyers would use the abortion records to find out whether the
Cincinnati Planned Parenthood Clinic has performed abortions on minors
without parental consent in other cases. Names of the patients will be
blacked out for their privacy, said attorney Brian Hurley, who represents
the girl's family.
"Planned Parenthood appears to flout the law and help statutory rapists
cover up their crime, and then has the gall to claim to be 'protecting' the
right to privacy," said Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for
America. "Clearly it's not the girls they are concerned about, but fear of
exposure of their own misdeeds. Once again Planned Parenthood promotes
'abortion rights' to mean the rights of the abortionist, not the patient."
The Cincinnati Planned Parenthood Clinic will appeal the judge's decision,
an action that will probably hinder the release of patient files for some
time.
This is one case among many in recent years whereby Planned Parenthood has
been investigated after felony indictments. Such cases expose the tension
between the ubiquitous "right to privacy" upheld by Planned Parenthood
clinics and state laws restricting abortion and prohibiting child abuse.

That's the problem. You're expecting a child to act and make decisions as if

You're trying to turn the argument on its ear. Requiring parental
notification could put the child's very life in danger: If a parent is
the abuser, they would fear exposure, wouldn't they. This obviously
might bring the vengeance of the wicked onto the child.
Plus, it's the teen's life. If mommy is vehemently anti-abortion and
would insist on her daughter raising the baby, but the girl realizes
that having a baby at 15 would effectively ruin her future, why should
she be forced to inform mommy.

of the anti-choice movement is actually much more interested in controlling

the cervical cancer vaccine. Witness their opposition to birth control.

when someone murders a doctor or an escort at a women's clinic.

women than it is in reducing abortions. Witness their knee-jerk reaction to
the cervical cancer vaccine. Witness their opposition to birth control.
Witness their enthusiastic support, or at best muted clucks of disapproval,
when someone murders a doctor or an escort at a women's clinic.

I think the whole mutilation thing is more an African deal than an Arab
deal. I could be wrong. Anyways, I don't know that many Muslims but I do
know a few. Couple from Kuwait, a couple Iraqis, and some Saudis. And one
guy I can think of from Pakistan, although I haven't seen him in a couple
years. They're of course westernized, because I tend to move in westernized
social circles. They don't, near as I know, mutilate their daughters. And
they don't talk about it being a practice back home, either.

Yeow. Yuck. Sounds like there are little enclaves where it's more common,
