SYRACUSE, N.Y. --A pastor accused of raping a teenager in his
congregation pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Wednesday.
Jaree Jones, 30, pleaded guilty to a single felony count of
second-degree rape, admitting to having a sexual relationship with the
victim, who was 14 at the time of the rape.
He will face between two and six years in prison when he is sentenced
Oct. 4.
Jones, pastor of the Refuge Temple of Syracuse, was charged in
November with second-degree rape and second-degree criminal sexual act
after the girl told police he raped her several times between May 2004
and March 2005 at his home and church, where the girl's family attends
services.
