Molestations net 12-year sentence

Darrell Lemont Otis, who was once in training to become a minister, is
instead headed to prison for 12 years for molesting two girls.

Otis, 36, was convicted in October of two felony counts each of
repeated sexual assault of a child and second-degree sexual assault,
as well as two misdemeanor counts of sexual intercourse with a child.
Monday, he was sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison and 16 more
on extended supervision by Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Jeffrey
Wagner.
He was charged with assaulting the girls between 2000 and 2004 at his
home in the 2500 block of N. 54th St. The acts, which were disclosed
while one of the girls was reading the Bible, began when the girls
were 12 and 14. The pastor of the Rising Star Missionary Baptist
Church in West Allis, where Otis began training for the ministry in
late 2004, said when the criminal charges were filed that the acts
predated Otis' involvement with the church.
