or so...;-)

Hip-Hip--HOORAY!!! What a rush! And between the playoffs and
the series... EIGHT straight wins, to do it. Talk about a SHATTERED
curse!
But -- wouldn't that be **2090** or so...?

2090 is correct -- *if* it's another 86 years until the Sox win another
Series. Fans will be grousing about the drought a bit before then. ;-)
(Of course, the next challenge is: Chicago. The last Chicago team to take
baseball's world title was the White Sox -- and they did it the year BEFORE
the Red Sox last did it before last night, ao they'll be working on 88 years
next season. It gets even worse on the north side -- four more years of
futility, and the Cubs will have gone a complete century without a Series
title to their name.)

Yeah. I was thinking about that -- since Iowa, here, is
chock-FULL of Cubs fans!
Me, though, I'm still a big fan of the Brooklyn Bums. And the next
time Duke Snyder plays in a home game in Ebbetts Field, I'm gonna
go see the game in person.

Every time a person supports bigotry in public, and presents NO
relevant FACTS to back his/her stance in behalf of a loathsome
agenda against individual liberties and human rights, that person
has -- ironically -- further **damaged** the cause he/she supports.
And every time a fair-minded and sensible egalitarian opposes
such a bigot, publicly, and **presents** relevant FACTS that are
damaging to the bigot's agenda, that TOO is an additional nail in
the coffin lid of the agenda, and a push of that casket CLOSER
to the Drain of Extinction -- its well-deserved ultimate destination.

Kerry -- two medals: a silver and bronze star.
Bush? Well -- they don't give medals for
going AWOL, missing your medical and
getting grounded or falling off of a bar stool.
Kerry -- a hero, Bush -- a zero.
The Bush 'balanced' budget: 1.2 trillion and worsening...
The Bush 'economic' policy: - 3 million jobs and counting...
The Bush Iraq lie: - 1,070+ GIs, and mounting...
Having Bush louse up my country: Worthless

So I've noticed, when Mrs. C and I have been up there. "Field of Dreams"
couldn't have been set anywhere else.
Me, though, I'm still a big fan of the Brooklyn Bums. And the next
time Duke Snyder plays in a home game in Ebbetts Field, I'm gonna
go see the game in person.
I'm fortunate to have survived the era of cookie-cutter stadiums, so I've
already got my dream -- the downtown Orange Grove, with Tal's Hill out in
right-center, with the flagpole sitting in the middle, and the Crawford boxes
a chip shot down the left-field line, right in front of Union Station, where I
first set foot in Houston as a nine-year-old. All I need is J.R. on the
mound, and Rusty awaiting his turn at bat. (Of course, Spec Richardson isn't
allowed. ;-)
