Hm. Good thing Monica was in her 20's, then. :-) But despite the
meaning of "is" (and, for that matter, "prey", "seriously", and "do"),
it's a good statement, although the question of "who" hauls them up for
the reckoning is an interesting question. After all, the preying Dad here
is supposed to be the authority figure (and in this case abusing it).
The best I can do here is drag the school nurse into it -- and that's
assuming the girl victim goes to school (as opposed to being home-schooled
or being truant). There was also a story not too long back about a
crossing guard holding a student hostage -- for several years. (It was a
nasty sort of matter, too; she went willingly, apparently. Of course I
can't find a reference now ... grrr.)
And then there's the female teachers seducing male students, which shows
that Clinton's only viewing one side of the problem (admittedly, the more
problematic side, but Mary Kay Letourneau apparently wasn't the only one
who decided to see what boys were capable of).
As for the "unborn child" apparently fathered by Dad in this case -- I
would question the wisdom of her carrying it, on multiple grounds, but
ideally it would be her informed choice (informed, in the sense that she
would be given access to information on what pregnancy can do to her body,
the risks involved which include her death, and the process of gestation
[generally speaking; some babies develop faster than others] -- not in the
sense of being unilaterally told that it's a human being/child/with a
soul/etc.; that's not information, merely religious proselytizing). Of
course being underage Dad might get involved again (ugh); if she's lucky a
court-appointed guardian or the Court itself might listen to her plea to
abort, assuming she needs one.
Section 123400 of California Law (Health and Safety) details the specifics
-- for California, of course. It's quite involved law, though it's been
changed some time back, and details in particular boundaries such as 10
weeks under various conditions.
