Poll: 85% think they're going to heaven |
If I were alot of people, especially some of them who post here, I'd be alot
more worried about a much warmer place to spend eternity. Remember, `Ye reap
what `ye sow.

Poll: 85% think they're going to heaven
Dec. 20, 2005 - Vast majorities of Americans believe in heaven and think
they're headed there. But elbow room won't be a problem: About eight in 10
believers envision heaven as a place where people exist only spiritually,
not physically.
Eighty-nine percent in this ABC News poll believe in heaven, which is
consistent with data going back 30 years. Among believers, 85 percent think
they'll personally go there - mainly in spirit, since 78 percent say it's a
place where people exist only spiritually.
Who gets in is another matter. Among people who believe in heaven, one in
four thinks access is limited to Christians. More than a third of
Protestants feel that way, and this view peaks at 55 percent among
Protestants who describe themselves as very religious.
Among all adults, 79 percent are Christians, 14 percent have no religion,
and the rest, 5 percent, are non-Christians. Among Christian groups,
Catholics account for 21 percent of adults; evangelical Protestants, 19
percent; and non-evangelical Protestants, 13 percent.
There are fewer differences among religious groups on the question of
whether heaven is a physical or spiritual place. Belief that it's a physical
place peaks at 22 percent among Protestants who describe themselves as very
religious.
As noted, people without a religion are the least likely to believe in
heaven (51 percent do, 46 percent don't), followed by people who describe
themselves as not religious (72 percent of them do believe, 26 percent
don't). Non-religious people who do believe in heaven are slightly less
likely than others to think they'll personally go there, but it's a still
high 77 percent

Hmm. Most of the gay guys I've met don't think they are going to
heaven because they *are* in heaven (at least the one's with hot
boyfriends). However, I did place a phone call to St. Peter and got
the inside scoop and from what he told, me, J. Young is in a heap o
trouble! :-)
It seems Jesus, who is claimed in the Bible to have said, "Whatsoever
you do to the least of these you do unto me", is getting just a bit
ticked off at J. Young's holier-than-thou attitude. So, the heavenly
powers that be are arranging a little welcoming party for J. Young.
When he shows up at those pearly gates, in order to get in, he's going
to first have to, err, "service", every gay guy who shows up there for
the next thousand years, and he better do it right.
If J. Young doesn't want to reap what he sowed, he better learn how
to blow!

Odd that NO ONE, dead or alive, has been able to supply any clear
comprehensive description
of what Heaven is like. If heaven is the grand prize for obeying gods wishes
and commands you
would think this god would supply a vivid description or even pictures of
his wonderful reward.
When man on earth offers a prize for some human action he makes clear with
photos and descriptions
how wonderful is the prize.
Could be that Heaven is just a figment of peoples imaginations and that
there is no such as a real Heaven???

According to the Bible, heaven is up there among the stars. The stars
and planets were considered to be angels and the "hosts of heaven,"
alive up there above us, glittering in the sky.
When ancient people saw meteor showers, they considered the meteors
or "fallings stars" to be angels falling from or cast out of heaven in
some cosmic heavenly battle of good vs. evil.
Once you learn and realize that, then all the stories about some
invisible "heaven" that the modern day priests want you to believe in
goes right out the window or into the box of pure fiction and fantasy.
If Lucifer was really cast out of heaven, and was defeated by Jesus,
they why can we still see Lucifer in the sky, as the morning star?

It is impossible for something that was once holy to become unholy. Once
something is sacred, it is always sacred. Satan (shin/tet/nun)
translates to English as "hinderer". Hashem gave "Satan" the job of
presenting choices to humans so they can facilitate "free will". One
cannot make a choice if one does not know there are other options. Xians
have gotten the whole thing fucked up, Hashem doesn't punish people for
using the free will he gave us. There is no heaven, there is no hell.

LOL! Too true. One of my grandmothers, who shuffled off this mortal

obvious hatred of Jesus Himself...

The funny thing is, under the present climate, Jesus would not be able to
get a visa to enter the United States of America....he would be denied
because he fits the profile of a terrorist:
Male, between 20-35, from the Middle East, no visible means of support...
The teachings of Jesus could be seen as offering aid and comfort to
terrorists since they don't seem to support war::
Matt. 5:38 You have heard that it was said, Eye for eye, and tooth for
tooth. 39 But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes
you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40 And if someone
wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. 41
If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to
the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to
borrow from you.
Matt. 5:43 You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate
your enemy. 44 But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who
persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes
his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous
and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will
you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet
only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even
pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is
perfect.

The 15% are the intelligent ones. They don't believe that either "heaven"
or "hell" exists so they don't think they are going to "hell".

Gee, of course we know that you didn't. And we know why.

Enjoy your stay in hell--because like the 85% that claims they're
heading to heaven, the remainder 15% who aren't hypocritical pervs like
you, are going to stick around Earth and laugh at you...

on 21 Dec 2005 in alt.atheism, dear sweet J Young
(youngopinions@aol.com) made the light shine upon us with this:
If I were alot of people, especially some of them who post here, I'd
be alot more worried about a much warmer place to spend eternity.
Those who can think for themselves tend to make their own decisions about
what's best for them. Those who can't tend to copy what others do.
Remember, `Ye reap what `ye sow.
Remember, give a man a fishing pole and he'll never be hungry. Give a man
religion, and he'll starve to death praying for a fish.
