Object: President Vows to Veto Stem Cell Bill
It's already bad enough that our hard earned tax dollars support the
likes of PPA, we need not fund ghoulish experiments that yield nothing
but the destruction of yet more life.
http://operationrescue.org/
Washington, DC - President George W. Bush has promised to veto S. 5, a
bill that would have provided federal funding for life-destructive
experimentation on live human embryos. The bill thankfully lacks
support for a veto override.
"It is immoral for the government to require our tax money to be spent
on killing innocent people, even at the earliest stages of
development," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "Killing
live human embryos has not yielded one promising cure for any disease,
while stem cells derived from ethical sources hold much promise for
easing human suffering. We should remember those in Congress who voted
for this bill and pray that their eyes will be opened to the reality
that taking innocent human life is not the answer to any of mankind's
problems."

And for another year the Chinese, the Koreans, the Indians,
the British, and just about everyone else gets a chance to pull ahead
of us in the race to find therapies that keep our most knowledgable,
most mature, and most productive members of society, those in their
forties through sixties, in the workforce.
I am not fond of watching my country commit suicide to score
points for the afterlife.

I think the President's experiment to see what happens when life-saving
medical technology is stifled is ghoulish.

Good for him! Stick to your guns I say regardless of what the electorate
thinks. He obviously has superior morals otherwise why would god...er,
SCOTUS..have installed him.
Dig that grave, Georgie. Dig it deep. We'll pat it down for you.

Sorry, bub. But that thing you call ghoulish actually has the potential
to save lives by taking stem cells from embryos that have ZERO chance of
becoming fetuses.
Would you rather this life be tossed out with the garbage, or used to
save future lives?

Don't make the mistake of assuming that he actually cares about this.
The real reason that fundies oppose stem cell research as to do with
their fear that they will lose power, as new healing technologies allow
humans to live indefinitely. Medicine produces real, secular "miracles"
while the faith-healing lies of the bible become more laughable and
obsolete by the day.

I hope your spinal cord gets severed at C-1 and, since we can't
conduct stem cell research, and buying the technology from abroad is
so costly, you have to spend the rest of your life strapped to a
wheelchair backboard.
From where you can tell everyone how happy you are that an in vitro
embryo was tossed into the medical waste bin, instead of being used to
restore your mobility. If you could talk without a respirator, which

Washington, DC - President George W. Bush has promised to veto S. 5, a
bill that would have provided federal funding for life-destructive
experimentation on live human embryos.

He has already signed lot of legislation, that needed a veto. Now he
will finally veto something, even if it is good legislation. I think
he would rather veto the bill of rights, but he has not had the
opportunity.

We should remember those in Congress who voted
for this bill and pray that their eyes will be opened to the reality
that taking innocent human life is not the answer to any of mankind's
problems."

Killing live, heartless, brainless, human zygotes is just as bad as
killing live, heartless, brainless, human spermatozoa. Both are human

Did we already opine that it is the height of hypocrisy to be killing
hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians, for no conceivable benefit, then
act all concerned about the moral implications of using a microscopic
clump of cells, soon to be dumped down the drain, to find new treatments
for a whole raft of diseases that cause human suffering and death every
day? We did? OK, never mind.
It's too bad there is no way to instill a sense of hypocrisy in those who
are so obviously deficient, like J Young and GW Bush.

Pray, Sir, you never need the kind of medical treatment that only stem cell
research can eventually provide. You'd probably have to go overseas to an
enlightened country, like China, to obtain life saving treatment for
yourself or a close family member. Perhaps they'll give you a discount for
giving them a monopoly on the market.
