He's wrong. People ARE born homosexual. But even if that
were not the case, it still would be irrelevant. No SENSIBLE
person would **ever** seek to DENY equal rights to any other

believers in whatever religion they subscribe to. But *good luck!*
if any person seeks to discriminate against them on that basis!

Discriminating in ANY way against a person because he/she
is homosexual is just as abysmally-STUPID as it would be to
discriminate against a person because he/she is left handed.

people would have ANY part of.

An "Uncle Tom," as the term was commonly employed during the
FIRST Civil Rights Era (1954-1965; we currently are in the SECOND
Civil Rights Era, which **will** guarantee access across-the-board of
EQUAL rights to gays) is a turncoat against the group to which he
belongs. In that case, a black person who sided with (or kowtowed
willingly to) the white racists who sought to impose second-class-
citizen status upon them.

In my post, I called Thompson (who is black) an "Uncle Tom" with
respect to his level of hypocrisy. He criticized gays for seeking
equal rights, and made it clear that he opposed their gaining access
to those rights. Thus being the equivalent of an Uncle Tom because
he was guilty of publicly opposing the very thing that his race had to
fight so hard for, 40 years ago. Under the guarantees of freedom of
speech, he had the right to take that stance, but his stance EXUDES
the epitome of hypocrisy. And ANY black who would oppose Civil
Rights for gays is therefore being unconscionably hateful as well as
hypocritical. In short -- NO better than the very segregationists
they fought so hard to defeat, 40 years earlier.

This reminds me of something that happened to me about 8 years ago.
I took on a part-time job at a city library at the information desk. Two guys
walked up to my desk looking for a book (1 of the guys worked at the library
but was rather new. He brought the man over since he didn't know where
the book was either.) They began talking about racism and how white
people (I'm white, btw) has made God into a white man etc. etc. I piped in
and said something to the effect that they were right... that God isn't flesh
and blood and therefore could not be of a specific race or color, and added
also that God wasn't male either. One of the black guys actually jumped
back raising his hands wildly and said something to the effect "now wait a
minute God IS a man!" I just said he was unbelievable and finally after
he tried his hardest to make me enter into a debate I told him I wasn't at
liberty to debate with him since I was at work and could get in trouble. He
walked away in a huff probably thinking he has set me straight. What a
jackass nasty self centered ignorant twit. So, THAT was a big lesson to me.
People whoop and hollar about THEIR rights but are completely capable
with living with the same ignorance that enables people to hold contridictory
lies and a truths hand in hand and believe in them both with equal fervor.

Thompson was within his rights to say what he did... but he is
totally without excuse as a human being for having done so. And he
should be condemned for his hateful and bigoted stance by sensible
people of ALL races, including members of his own.

And as "Peacenik" was saying BEFORE the rude interruption
above (and "death's" dishonest act of omitting the ending of it) ---

calling a white person a hypocrite.

Exactly. A hypocrite is a hypocrite. Race has no bearing
on that.
