Object: Push for national gay-marriage ban
How much more needs to be done to get the crazed LLL (Looney Liberal
Lemmings) to understand; Americans do not want same-sex marriage. Whatever
arguments can be made in favor of creating this right do not supercede the
fact that Americans overwhelmingly reject the notion. Imposing the will of a
few against the wishes of the masses amounts to no more than totalitarian
government; and afterall, isn't that what you 'liberals' so firmly oppose?
http://www.politicalgateway.com/news/read/9139
WASHINGTON, April 24 (UPI) -- Roman Catholic leaders and evangelical
Protestants, joined by other religious groups, are pushing to amend the U.S.
Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.
As a kickoff, the group signed a petition in support of an amendment, The
New York Times reported. Those who added their names included seven Catholic
cardinals, a number of archbishops, some Orthodox Jewish rabbis and at least
one official of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
One Catholic group -- the Knights of Columbus -- plans to distribute 10
million postcards at Catholic churches for congregants to send to their
congressional representatives.
"The personal involvement of bishops and cardinals is significantly greater
this time than in 2004," said Patrick Korten, a spokesman for the lay
Catholic group.
In 2004, proposed amendments to state constitutions on homosexual marriage
helped bring out conservative voters and may have contributed to President
George W. Bush's victory over Sen.. John Kerry.
But some political observers say that the public attitude toward the issue
has shifted with a recent poll finding 51 percent of respondents opposed,
compared to 63 percent in 2004.

April 25, 2006
Federal court upholds military's antigay policy
A federal judge with the U.S. district court for the district of
Massachusetts on Monday dismissed a lawsuit filed by 12 service
members challenging the military's antigay "don't ask, don't tell"
policy. The ban, established in 1993 under the Clinton administration,
prohibits the military from asking about the sexual orientation of
service members but requires discharge of those who acknowledge being
gay or engaging in homosexual activity.
The service members had argued that the policy violates their
constitutional rights to privacy, free speech, and equal protection
under the law. However, in court documents the Bush administration
argued that Congress, in approving "don't ask, don't tell," recognized
that the military is characterized by its own rules and traditions,
including some restrictions that would not be accepted in civilian
society.
The policy "rationally furthers the government's interest in
maintaining unit cohesion, reducing sexual tensions, and promoting
personal privacy," the government argued.
U.S. district judge George A. O'Toole Jr. on Monday dismissed the
suit, brought by the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network on behalf of
the 12. "We are disappointed in the court's decision and are reviewing
all possible responses," said C. Dixon Osburn, executive director for
SLDN. "We continue to believe the military's ban is un-American and
unconstitutional. There is no reason lesbian, gay, and bisexual
Americans should be prohibited from serving our country."
"Don't ask, don't tell" has been upheld by appeals courts in several
other jurisdictions. One of the reasons SLDN filed the lawsuit in
Boston is that the appeals court there—the first circuit—has never
been asked to rule in a case involving the policy. (AP, with
additional reporting by The Advocate)

Actually, that would be you. I am very much in my right mind. That is
why I can see the inequality and intolerance for what it is. I have
yet to see any reason to deny homosexuals the right to marry the
consenting adult of his or her choice in the same manner that
homosexuals can that does not reduce down to "Because I don't like
homosexuals" or "Because I say so", neither of which is sufficient
reason.

WASHINGTON, April 24 (UPI) -- Roman Catholic leaders and evangelical
Protestants, joined by other religious groups, are pushing to amend the U.S.
Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

I'd say it is time to do something about the Loony Religious Right Wing
and we can start by eliminating the tax-exempt status these religious
groups get. If they want to ammend the U.S. Constitution, they can
pay for their lobbying out of after-tax dollars like everyone else.
Sure the Catholics and Evangelicals will scream about losing their
boon, but if they want to alter our system of government, that's just
too bad.

"Americans do not want same-sex marriage. "

Oh, you mean the same way they didn't want female suffrage and civil
rights for nonwhites? Those damn fags. First the negroes, then the
broads, now those darn gay people think they have the right to equal
protection under the law. What is the world comin to when you can't
say bugger all to the Constitution and create an underclass of
citizens? ::rollseyes::

The United States government is an extension of the will of The
People, but also an entity that protects political/ethnic/ideological
minorities, a segment of The People from violation of their rights.

From the fourteenth amendment of the US Constitution:

".....nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal
protection of the laws."

Which would automatically ban some things that are in effect here, such as
corporate hypocrite measures rather than following the law for all the
people in the USA.
What you forgot is the mandate that disallows transgressing the majority.
Look up Control of the Minority Faction. The validity of Control of the
Minority Faction is as just as Control of the Majority Faction; for, it
seeks to ensure that that equal protections are not removed from members of
either group.

What you forgot is most of reality. Exactly where is that mandate? (Point
out the wording that supposedly supports your fantasy.)

Interesting how all those countries that have either same sex marriage or
recognise same sex unions don't seem to be ladened with the same social
problems that the US has.

Most european countries don't have the same immigration and law
enforcement on the scale we do. So your whole analysis is bogus.

You worry about the sheep population in New Zealand, boy, the US will
take care of its societal business as well as continuing to support
your little island nation's failing economy with low interest loans

Please explain what business it is of yours, or any other heterosexual,
if homosexuals want to get married.

Why is same-sex marriage even necessary?
