Child Abuse On the Rise

[Nairobi, Kenya] The Government yesterday admitted that cases of child
abuse
were on the increase, especially in the Coast Province.
At the same time, the United Nations Children Fund (Unicef) announced
it had
started special projects in Mombasa and Malindi to stop young girls
from
getting into prostitution.
Mr Morris Tsuma, the chief children's officer, said many Coast
children were
being married off to foreigners and others sold to perform household
chores.
"The girl-child is the most probable victim of human trafficking as
she is
given out to work as an ayah," said Tsuma.
He was speaking at a Nairobi hotel during the opening session of a
three-day
conference to discuss human trafficking and child labour in the
Eastern and
Horn of Africa region.
The workshop is being co-ordinated by the African Centre for
Prevention and
Protection of Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN), Anti-Slavery
International,
and Unicef.
Philista Onyango, the Chief Executive of ANPPCAN (African Region), and
a
representative of UNICEF regional office for Eastern Africa Ms Margie
de
Monchy spoke during the opening ceremony.
Florence Muli-Musiime, the founding member of ANPPCAN and
Vice-Chancellor of
Daystar University, gave the opening address.
US Ambassador William Bellamy, who was listed as chief guest, did not
turn
up.
Speaking on behalf of the Director of Children's Services, Mr. Ahmed
Hussein, Tsuma said child abuse was complicated and difficult to
quantify.
"The Government does not have statistics to show the magnitude of the
problem of child abuse, because most of these crimes are committed at
home,"
he said.
He said many girls who were given out by relatives to work as
housemaids
became victims of sexual abuse and exploitation by their employers.
He accused foreigners operating villas in Malindi and Mombasa of using
them
as dens for sexual exploitation of young girls.
According to Ms Monchy, the majority of the girls given out to
tourists for
sex were aged between 10 and 14 years, and were exposed to all manner
of
diseases.
She said Unicef had identified Malindi and Mombasa for a special
project to
sensitise local communities and the Government on the protection of
girls.

of thinking is forcing the liberal to confront his own
cowardice and irrationality. That's why they react
with such hatred to anyone who disagrees with their
dogma.
As this dogma gets reinforced through decades of
repetition in the media, it gets more and more
pronounced. Today's liberals have thus become traitors
whose cowardice has led them to make common cause
with the enemies of America. They have willingly
become enemies of America.

Oh, and .. I'm still waiting for the name of the local hospital where I
can get MRI scans for 30$ .. you're being uncharacteristically [1] quiet

Not that I give a ***** about the abuse that PVT deserves, while you try
to hide your own racism, I've researched this issue. All hospitals can
CHARGE whatever they wish for an MRI, but both Medicare and Tricare
ALLOW exactly $550.93 for procedure 72148, which is an MRI of the lumbar
spine without dye. And hospitals are bound by federal law to accept
the amounts ALLOWED by either Medicare or Tricare as payment in full.
And thus they will pay to the provider 80% or $440.74, leaving the cost to
the patient of $110.19. So unless the PVT has some other arrangement
to pay this copayment of $110.19, that is the amount he would pay for
such an MRI of the spine under Tricare. And please do not confuse an
MRI with a CAT scan, they are totally different procedures using absolutely
different technologies. In the case of Tricare for Life, which I have but
the PVT does not since he is not over 65, Medicare pays the $440.74,
and Tricare for Life would pay the $110.19, leaving me zero dollars to
pay for such a procedure.
