Frank,
just like we have been saying all along.
The job market numbers are usually ALWAYS the last part to start showing
improvement in a real economic recovery.
The Democrats are going to have to lay off their arguments now about Bush
and the Economy. They just can't win that argument any longer.

Why? You actually believe the US economy is in good shape?
The economy has lost approximately 3 million jobs under Bush, and has
recently gained back perhaps 10% of those losses. The unemployment
rate has dropped from 6.1% to 6%, hardly reason for a party. Some
125,000 jobs came back last month, but 150,000 - 200,000 per month are
required just to absorb new entrants into the work force. Much of the
recent job gains are a result of the artificially high growth that
resulted from a one time infusion of cash into the economy through
massive tax cuts paid for with borrowed money. Deficits are at record
levels this year. Another near-record deficit is projected for next
year. There is a mind boggling trade deficit that is continuing to
grow at an unprecedented rate. This is exerting strong downward
pressure on the dollar, reducing the real value of US assets. The P/E
ratio of the Dow is still at insane levels. Personal debt is at record
highs, for the first time averaging higher than annual income. Real
income growth is stagnant, and has been for some time. The country is
mired in an unwinnable war in Iraq that is going to end up costing
hundreds of billions of dollars. Not only that, the President has
engaged the country in perpetuity in another unwinnable war against a
faceless, nameless enemy called "terrorism". Bush's foreign policy has
actually raised the spectre of terrorism, and this is another
unaccounted for "note" on the country's balance sheet. While it's
likely we will see some continued growth in GDP in the next few
quarters (although at a more modest rate), this is only because the
economy has "bottomed out". The indicators do not support the notion
that this recent "good news" is sustainable over any significant
period of time.

These are tactics liberals are going to use. It isn't going to work.
First off most American's could care LESS about the deficits. Unless you
are talking about something that is actually hitting their wallet.
Bush has given people back MORE money, people are spending, housing
development is up, stock market is doing great, jobless rates are going
down.
And with in the next year, things get better, dems in trouble.
Another near-record deficit is projected for next
year. There is a mind boggling trade deficit that is continuing to
grow at an unprecedented rate. This is exerting strong downward
pressure on the dollar, reducing the real value of US assets. The P/E
ratio of the Dow is still at insane levels. Personal debt is at record
highs,
Uh, take a look at bankruptcy rates in the 90's. Reached record levels.
That was happening before Bush.
Can't blame Bush for people using so much credit.
for the first time averaging higher than annual income. Real
income growth is stagnant, and has been for some time. The country is
mired in an unwinnable war in Iraq that is going to end up costing
hundreds of billions of dollars. Not only that, the President has
engaged the country in perpetuity in another unwinnable war against a
faceless, nameless enemy called "terrorism".
Actually all polls indicate American's don't want another president that
isn't going to continue fighting.
Bush has the guts to stand up and fight.
We are witnessing a nation being brought into a democracy and freedom given
to people who have never experienced freedom.
Of course I guess liberals don't want to see that happening.
Bush's foreign policy has
actually raised the spectre of terrorism, and this is another
unaccounted for "note" on the country's balance sheet.
Oh yea, I see terrorist all over the world blowing things up.
Right now terrorist, like most liberals, are frantic and attacking in Iraq
because they too don't want democracy. Because their method has always been
oppression and keeping the people scared. Now people in the middle east are
getting a taste of freedom, they like it.
Yes there are problems in Iraq, they are isolated, for the most part, most
of the region is moving along. Too bad the press likes to focus on the
negative and not the positive.
As our senators recently discovered not too long ago.
While it's
likely we will see some continued growth in GDP in the next few
quarters (although at a more modest rate), this is only because the
economy has "bottomed out". The indicators do not support the notion
that this recent "good news" is sustainable over any significant
period of time.
Dems are in trouble, no matter what you think. Bush's tax cuts are working.
With Clinton we had over inflated numbers, the dot.com industry going.
Those things help cause the problems we had after he left.

Yeah, he "lost" by getting 500,000 more votes than did Bush.
Technically, he lost by getting 5 fewer votes than Bush did. (271-266)
And if you look at that link, actually I have a better one, you get a much
BIGGER picture of just how much trouble Democrats are in.

In other news, the job market numbers are starting to show the expected

Thanks to a massive increase in government spending.
And so what if Social Security is destroyed as a result.

Care to elaborate?
The US already spends 25% of every federal income tax dollar on interest
payments on the debt. When the economy recovers and interest rates go
up, so will the amount of money needed to cover the national debt.
When massive deficits add to that debt then the money available to run
the government will shrink, resulting in larger deficits, resulting in
larger debt, resulting in larger deficits...
There will be reached a point where taxes no longer are enough to both
pay minimal government expenses and make interest payments.
Argentina has already gone down that road. The result hasn't been
pretty.
Most people realize that living off of your credit cards is a sure way
to financial ruin. The current Republicans don't seem to understand
that.
