She will actually die from dehydration. And in the state she is in the
doctors say it cannot be painful.
But is it better to keep someone alive who is in constant physical pain?
Many cancer patients say no.
Note: Different parts of the brain sense specific pains. If you say they
do not go get a medical degree and get back to me.

So did my dad. He couldn't take it anymore and took a header down the
stairs right onto the blue stone in the foyer. A couple of hours later, he
was brain-dead due to massive hemmoraghing. We took him off the respirator
the following morning.

Sorry to hear about your dad getting cancer. Many cancer victms can't
deal with the pain and do themselves in. I know I would.

What a sad story. Hard on him, hard on his family.
My wife told me "I'm tired of fighting this". That night she passed away.

Yes, it wasn't the most pleasant experience. At first I was angry with him
doing it right before Christmas (December 5th of this year, actually), but
it ended up being one of the more enjoyable Christmases we'd had in a while.
I had already mourned for him when he started going downhill three years
prior to his death.

I'm sorry :(
