Bush accepts responsibility for State of Union claim
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush on Wednesday took
personal responsibility for the first time for using discredited
intelligence in his State of the Union address,
"For the first time".
I guess he finally ran out of other people to blame. The list _was_
getting rather longish, and it was getting pretty obvious that all of
his excuses were nothing but *****.
...but predicted he would be vindicated for going to war against Iraq.
So it's alright to lie to the American people and to Congress in order
to wage war provided that you think the reasons are "good enough".
Sounds like every other 3rd rate dictator in history.
He also warned of possible new al-Qaeda attacks, possibly
involving airlines.
Especially now that his administration is cutting back on airport
security. Gee, one might almost think that he was hoping for another
attack so as to boost his popularity again.
President Bush: "I take personal responsibility for everything
I say, absolutely."
By Stephen Jaffe, AFP
"The threat is a real threat," Bush said.
Heard that one before. "Real" nuclear weapons. "Real"
biological weapons. "Real" chemical weapons.
Bush is nothing but a 2nd-rate con man.
Let's just hope and pray that by early November, 2004, the
MAJORITY of America's active VOTERS have figured that out!

You mean like some of the democrats who are hypocrites? Even some of the
ones running against Bush now?
Do you remember?
Here are some interesting quotes from 1998 I think will interest you. You
will take notice, they sound very familiar to what Bush was saying prior to
the war
"If Saddam Hussein fails to comply and we fail to act or we take some
ambiguous third route, which gives him yet more opportunities to develop his
program of weapons of mass destruction ... he will then conclude that he can
go right on doing more to build an arsenal of devastating destruction ...
Some way, someday, I guarantee you he'll use the arsenal." - Bill Clinton,
Feb. 18 1998
CNN Story dated Dec. 16, 1998
"The president said Iraq's refusal to cooperate with UN weapons inspectors
presented a threat to the entire world. 'Saddam must not be allowed to
threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or
biological weapons.'"
"The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi
government - a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a
government that respects the rights of its people."
Sen. John F. Kerry, D - Mass., said on Feb. 23, 1998: "Saddam Hussein has
already used these weapons and has made it clear that he has the intent to
continue to try, by virtue of his duplicity and secrecy, to continue to do
so. That is a threat to the stability of the Middle East. It is a threat
with respect to the potential of terrorist activities on a global basis. It
is a threat even to regions near but not exactly in the Middle East."
Tom Daschel, Feb. 1998: "Look, we have exhausted virtually all our
diplomatic effort to get the Iraqis to comply with their own agreements and
with international law. Given that, what other option is there but to force
them to do so?' That's what they're saying. This is the key question. And
the answer is we don't have another option. We have go to force them to
comply, and we are doing so militarily."
Weapons of mass destruction. Saddam Hussein refusing to comply with
inspectors. Regime change. A threat to the entire world. Use the military
to force them to comply. Sounds like the arguments that the Bush
administration used. In fact, in President Bush's January 28 State of the
Union speech, he specifically cited the information gathered by the U N, the
International Atomic Energy Agency and Bill Clinton as a basis for his
conclusion that Iraq did indeed have WMD.

are you saying that if Clinton said it, it must be true?
Nope, just saying that others recognized the threat before Bush did.
the US govt. has been at war with Iraq for over 10 years, the bombing
and the disinformation has been a consistant policy throughout. Dems
and Repubs are like Coke and Pepsi, pretty much the same product with
different advertising agencies. and both with the same goal: to make
their shareholders as rich as possible.

You're playing semantics. You know full well the context of the discussion,
and what was meant by my remarks.
But just in case you really are that stupid, I'll rephrase my statement:
"More voters voted for Gore than Bush LAST time, but this time the margin
needs to be great enough so that even the dumbest motherfuckers will know
that most people believe that Bush sucks *****."
Is THAT clear enough for you?
The majority of the electors did vote for Bush though.
Electors? You're changing the subject. The discussion was in reference to
the general population vote.
Why are
you trying to re-write history?
I hate to burst your self-absorbed, arrogant bubble, but......
Total votes (simple count)
Gore: 50, 158,094 votes.
Bush: 49, 820,518 votes.
From:
http://www.sirs.com/wrc/govt/elect.html
Now, unless you are just an incomprehensibly STUPID sonofabitch, 50 million
is greater than 49 million.
As I said, "the majority of voters figured it out last time." See initial
clarification [above] since you need everything oversimplified for you.

Good point
Much like in 1996 when all those who praised Clinton and made comments like
he won by a land slide.
Reality:
Less than 46% of registered voters even voted.
That is only registered voters. That is not including all those who could
vote and never registered.
Bill Clinton actually won with less than 1/3 of the population even caring
to vote or voting for him.
Not much of a land slide huh?
Same goes for this situation with Bush and Gore. The majority of voters
most likely will not vote. The only time you really see a huge number of
voters actually come to the polls is when something of significance is
actually affecting them. The truth of the matter is, most people are doing
all right. Yes we have many unemployed, and yes there are problems in our
economy. But those things will change, like they always do. Bush is still
doing fine with the opinion polls, in fact he is actually now down to about
what most presidents are in their third year. Which is just usually above
50% approval. Things could change, we don't know what tomorrow brings.

It seems the majority (of those citizens [officially, though not
technically] eligible for a vote who did cast a vote) voted against
Bush.
