I was busily flonking away in alt.politics.homosexuality, when The Goddess
Eris Herself suddenly made me reply to RoB WAde:

David Brudnoy Unhappy with MassNews Article

Our Web Site Is Read by Many People

If he weren't already dead, I rather think he would be -- and justifiably
so. BTW, don't you fanatics have a superstition about speaking ill of the
dead?

MassNews Staff

Many sources tell us that David Brudnoy is very unhappy with the
articles in MassNews about him and the Boy Scouts.

He is certainly making it clear that our newspaper and website are read
by many thousands of people every day, both in and outside of the
state.

Brudnoy is telling people that we are the most scurrilous of
journalists.

But if there are any errors or distortion in our stories, we would like
to know about them and correct them. If David would like to respond, we
will print in full, without any changes, anything he wishes to say.

The sad truth is that he's the one who made a spectacle of himself in
allowing his deification by the Boston Council as a role model for
boys. What parent would want his child to go through what Brudnoy did?
It is a curse to avoid at all costs. David has made that lesson
perfectly clear.

Many men have gotten venereal diseases down through the ages, but this
is the first time that any have blamed someone else for their problems.
Everyone has to feel pity and sympathy for Brudnoy, but not when he
tries to convince innocent children about the efficacy of the lifestyle
that caused his problems.

David, you can do what you want with your life. No society has been
able to stop that lifestyle and we will not be able to either. But we
can keep you away from our children and we shall do so.

We at MassNews are like the little boy who told his father, "The king
has no clothes." We merely said what everyone could see but didn't say
for many reasons.

It is just one more example why an independent voice like MassNews is
needed in the Commonwealth.

David Brudnoy is a prime example of the inadvisability of being in the
closet, since that is -- or has been, at least -- the most common cause of
AIDS /in/ gay and bi men. In the closet, it's very hard to discreetly get
the sort of information one needs to protect oneself from STDs, and if one
doesn't know that unprotected anal sex is one of the most common vectors
for HIV/AIDS, one isn't likely to pop on down to one's local gay & lesbian
community centre looking for that sort of info. It'd kinda defeat the
purpose of the closet, wouldn't you say? Of course, that's no bad thing,
but if you're in the closet, leaving it can be terrifying...
