The Unconscionable Claims of Michael J. Fox
October 25th, 2006
Mary L. Davenport, MD
Mary is a far right Christian Fundamentalist who blogs for several
conservative websites. She is not as rabid as Ann Colter [and who could be]
but she is a noted hard core rightist with a strict agenda of attacking
anything "unchristian".
"The implicit claim that research based on new embryos is 'the most
promising' is absurd, completely unsupported by the scientific
literature, and an insult to voters, based as it is on the assumption
that they are incapable of understanding the issue."
So she posts half-truths and outright lies "based ... on the
assumption that they [voters] are incapable of understanding the
issue. Too stupid to tell the difference, is the elitist assumption
underlying this campaign."
She should take some tutoring from Foggy Bottom and learn how to tell
complete lies and get away with it to that portion of the electorate
that is "[t]oo stupid to tell the difference" - George & Rush's
people.
Embryonic stem cell research *IS* the most promising for certain
conditions, and the existing lines - those the government will allow
federal dollars to fund - are compromised to the point that they're
only of interest to those who want to determine how not to handle
specimens. So the only embryonic stem cell research that's worth more
than 10 cents is research on NEW lines - lines the federal government
won't fund.
But, to those who are anti-abortion-regardless-of-anything-else - the
pro-deathers (because abortion won't stop, only safe, legal abortion
will) - it sounds good.
WHO'S assuming that the voters are "[t]oo stupid to tell the
difference"? I'm sure that, as an MD, she took the Hippocratic oath,
but I think she spelled it wrong.
