Bush has hired the people responsible for the Swift Boat Veterans
campaign against John Kerry to destroy AARP because of their opposition
to the Bush plan to take money out of the Social Security program and
put it in private investment accounts.

At the same time, Bush loyalists are hitting the campaign trail this
week to promote the idea of private investment accounts and they are
armed with a training CD and 30-page memo from Frank Luntz, a veteran
Republican strategist, teaching them how to sell the idea to voters.

It's so typical of the cowardly Bush, to have left the country while
his dogs of war attack the American people. What a contrast from Harry
Truman ("The buck stops here") - Bush never takes responsibility for
anything. He always lets others do his fighting for him.

The entire Medicare Reform Act needs to be repealed.

It was designed to destroy Medicare as we know it by requiring seniors
to join an HMO to receive discounted drugs after 2006. It allocates
some $71 billion of our tax dollars to the insurance companies just so
that they can compete with Medicare. By prohibiting Medicare from
negotiating drug prices, and forbidding the importation of discounted
drugs from other countries, the Act guarantees that Americans will
continue to pay the highest prices for prescriptions in the world.

As many as 18,000 Americans die each year because they cannot afford
the medications they need. The so-called Medicare Reform Act was
supposed to provide affordable prescription drugs for seniors. Instead,
it prohibited Medicare from negotiating bulk purchases and prohibited
importation of drugs from countries which do negotiate drug purchases
for its citizens.

Americans should be allowed to buy American-made drugs from Canada or
wherever they can get them at the greatest discount. We cannot continue
to sacrifice the lives of seniors to maximize obscene pharmaceutical
profits. The phony discount drug card, with measly discounts, has not
stopped drug price increases and is far from competitive with Canadian
prices. The Act allows employers to reduce or eliminate prescription
drug support from their retirees' pensions, and many companies are
moving to do just that.

Contact your representatives in Congress today. Tell them to keep Bush
from destroying social security AND that you want the Medicare Reform
Act of 2003 repealed! They work for you, not the other way around!
