Interior Ministry receives applications of Israelis wishing to be registered
as northern residents. The reason: Northerners are eligible for free entry
to many recreational sites due to security situation

Clerks at branches of the Interior Ministry were surprised to receive
recently applications filed by 10 Israelis wishing to register themselves as
residents of the north.


All applicants explained that they wanted to change their place of residence
in their IDs in a show of solidarity with the northern residents.
However, when ministry officials inquired further as to the urgency the
applicants attributed to the matter, they discovered that the supposed show
of solidarity had in fact been motivated by much more cynical reasons.
