Matty... Bush IS politically savy . He knows his base. His base doesn't
even want "civil unions", survivorship righs, or power of attorney for
homosexual couples. His base of religious fundamentalists are bigots that
don't even want gays to exist.
Kerry has said that he supports civil unions, but not marriage, for
gays/homosexuals, at the federal level. In such a divided, polarized
country, I wouldn't expect Bush to support that.
And with all these bigots, why does the average yank vote for him?
because the average yank it actually a religious nut?
Well, yes. Pretty much.
This is a country where Robertson and Falwell get rich spewing hate
for others on TV. This is a country that has hucksters selling
religion on radio. A country of Jim Joneses and David Koreshes.
A country where hate in the name of JEEEeeeZUS is common and even
required.
Oh well, if it gets worse, there are plenty of countries willing to
open their doors to the non-religious-nut Americans.
Are there? Have you looked at the immigration policies of, say
Australia?
I'm not an Australian, however, New Zealand would welcome you, just a
tip, don't act American and you'll fit in just nicely :-)
I've actually looked at NZ immigration. "Welcoming" isn't the word I
would use. "Highly restrictive" would be a better description.
But that's true of most 1st world nations.
Well, one just can't let anyone in. Could you imagine the country
getting over run with overweight, loud mouthed Americans?
I live in California.
eeek, been there. The best part of the trip to America was flying into
Canada. Its like two completely different countries living side by side.
Sort of like Australia and New Zealand?
Like a America, minus all the bad attributes; found the people much
nicer; New Zealand is probably closer to that of Canada and the UK,
Australia however seems hell bent on becoming the 52nd state of the US.
Mind you, its quite funny, Canda, New Zealand and the UK embassys are
all grouped together, Iranian, North Korean and Iraqi are also grouped
together, sometimes referred to as the "suburb of evil" by some high
comission employees :-)
Oh, and people stare clear of the Israeli representative, Israelli's
tend to have a habit of attracting danger ;-)

I'm glad I'm not the only who's noticed that.
Still, I won't criticize your opinion of Canada since that's where
I'm from. Nice place. Might go back.

Don't want to get shot by some trigger-happy Israeli soldier.

Its really noticeable now, lived in back in 1988/89, came back in 1997,
and then again in 2001, its just keeps getting worse - that goes for
the expanding waste line as well ;-)
Then again, none of my friends over here are Australian; they're either
Polynesian, Asian or Middle Eastern ;-) better not tell ASIO I have a
friend from Iran :-)

lol, either that, or some nut wanting to knock off a representative.
Reminds me of Police Acadamy with the officer who always attracted bad
luck.
