The scientists at Trinity were pretty darned sure their bomb
would work, 60 years ago. Even though the test hadn't yet
take place yet... even THAT long ago -- 60 years ago -- they
were confident that it would work. (Their main concern actually
was that it might turn out to be TOO powerful, and ignite the
earth's atmosphere, or something.) SO -- with **today's**
technology, the Koreans can be sure without wasting a bomb
on a test detonation.

You have a credulity problem.

That problem is *yours.* Nuclear-bomb-building has been done for
over 60 years. From the very FIRST one, they were sure it would
detonate. It was only a case of what the yield and effects would be.
This much later, being sure that it will detonate is a given, as long
as they follow the tried and true methods for building it.

You're an idiot if you think non-detonating testing gives a 100%
assurance that the design and construction will work.

It's not like they have to invent all this stuff themselves. They could
have got the designs complete from Pakistan or others (maybe Russia
or China). If you have a tested design, there's no need to test.

There is, however, the need for testing to ensure that your
production renders a functional device.

Well, Hugh, you've just seen further verification of this:
"It's pointless to try to teach a pig to sing.
It wastes your time, and it annoys the pig."
Thus, we continue our postings to such obtuse folks as James,
here, for the benefit of the fence-sitters and lurkers, so that they
can see that deficiency for themselves. And the obtuse just keep
right on making that task very easy for us.
