Iowa klansman wants protest of gay marriage
By The ASSOCIATED PRESS
December 28, 2005
A Charles City man who said he's a member of the Ku Klux Klan is
trying to organize a rally next month to protest attempts to legalize
same-sex marriages in Iowa.
Douglas Sadler, 41, said his efforts are prompted by lawsuits filed
earlier this month on behalf of six gay couples this month to alter
the state’s marriage laws.
‘‘We don’t believe God’s law should be perverted any more than it
already has been,’’ said Sadler, a Charles City resident and father of
four. ‘‘The further we go away from God’s law, the further we get away
from God.’’
Lambda Legal, the organization that spearheaded the same-sex marriage
drive across the country, is representing the gay couples in the
lawsuit. Group officials said they will argue that the state
constitution’s equal protection and due process clauses make it
unlawful for the state to bar same-sex couples from marrying. They
plan to take the case to the Iowa Supreme Court if necessary.
That’s exactly where Sadler plans to protest. He said his contingent
from Cerro Gordo, Floyd and Mitchell counties will head to Des Moines
sometime next month and spread their message.
‘‘We don’t believe they have the right to marry,’’ Sadler said. ‘‘In
fact, we don’t think they have the right to exist.’’
Sadler claims he leads a northern Iowa contingent of the Klan, but
would not name any other members.
Lionel Foster, executive director of the Mason City Human Rights
Commission, said he is aware of Ku Klux Klan activity in Iowa but is
not extremely concerned.
‘‘They spread the same propaganda as they always have and they thrive
on it,’’ he said. ‘‘To be honest, there aren’t that many Klansmen in
Iowa. We’re more concerned about the sympathizers than we are with the
Klan because they cause the trouble.’’

I have yet to meet an atheist who didn't think of themselves as both a

Just as I have yet to meet a christstain who didn't consider itself

Yep. the stupid atheists coming out with pointless non sequiturs.

You misspelled "christstains like me, the irrepressible Squat."

Hey, *****, Leonardo da Vinci was also dyslexic. You have a problem with

You very obviously have trouble reading for comprehension, Bonnie never

Insecurity levels=off scale. What's really funny is it's *Christians*

Actually, it's a take on just "christian." One day, I was typing, and
I misspelled it as "christstian," and I looked up to correct it, and I
felt the fire of inspiration flood my very being. So, I reversed the i

I was just guessing, but I knew you didn't typo anything I've seen you

BTW, of my friends who are actual christians, all of them think it's
hysterical. And they all knew what the word "christstain" was supposed
to mean. Too bad Squat's too fucking retarded to figure it out.

Too true

To any of you theists reading this notice how all the atheists replying
aren't dealing with their Naturalism-Humanism dilemma. They aren't trying to
refute the two philosophies incompatibly or prove they are compatible.
Instead they are attacking non sequiturs, myself, and their own stawmen.
If Naturalism and Humanism were compatible then moral realism must be true.
But that flies in the face of philosophical naturalism because morality
would have to have an underlying physics problem to be solved. Fat chance of
that happening. In fact if they were compatible it'd be provable that nature
has a moral purpose.
Any of you atheists want to claim naturalism is compatible with humanism
because humans have human rights by virtue of being human?....even though
such as claim would be as circular as "The bible is true because the bible
says it's true"?

And the KKK, like the GOP, are .

Yang, Yang, Yang! You still here spreading moral Truth? Man you are one
dingo atheist.

When will atheists such as you realize there is no such thing as moral
truth and so no real models of moral rectitude? Well don't feel so all
alone there are a lot more like you.

Atheists like to point to the Euthyphro dilemma as an argument against god
or that god isn't needed for morality. Far enough BUT there is still a
problem that atheists don't like to deal with, namely moral reality. The
Euthyphro dilemma, not unlike yourself and other atheists, assumes moral
objectivism. Naturalism gets in the way of moral objectivism.

I have yet to meet an atheist who didn't think of themselves as both a
naturalist and a humanist.

Naturalism holds that nature is the only reality. There is no supernatural
anything and everything in theory can be explained by natural means.
So....unless you can give a rational argument to the contrary there is no
such thing as moral objectivism (aka moral realism).

Humanism, contrary to naturalism, assumes moral realism.

What the Euthyphro dilemma is to theists, the incompatibile philosophy
Naturalism and Humanism is to atheists like you.

Naturalism holds:

That morality is non-cognitive, that moral statements have no truth
value - "moral anti-realism". Therefore, morality is not objective but
only subjective; meaning which there is no culturally independent or
universal moral standard. Morality is merely a culture's code of conduct.
Moral progress cannot be real, and humans do not posses some kind of human
right to anything since nature doesn't endow anything with a right to its
life let alone a liberal, happy one. Evil isn't real. There are only
differences in opinions about how one and others should live a moral life.
But!!! Without morality being real all moral opinions are just differences
in individual preferences. One's opinions aren't better or worst than any
other's opinion. If an opinion could better then morality would have truth
value and naturalism cannot be the natural of reality. Your moral opinion
is no better than that of the KKK. Yeah, I know you don't *believe* that.

Humanism holds:

Morality is cognitive in that moral statements DO have truth value -
"moral realism". Morality is objective and we can determine if individuals
and/or cultures violate a culturally independent or universal moral
standard. Morality isn't merely a culture's code of conduct but a real
fact by which can be determined how close that code conforms to this
universal standard. The closer the culture's code moves toward this
standard the more progressive is its moral progress. Moral progress, then,
is real. Moral opinions can in fact be determined to be better or worst
and another's. It means cultures and individuals can violate human rights.
Somehow, humans are in fact entitled to (endow) with human rights.

How can atheists like you hold to both naturalism and humanism at the same
time without being cognitive dissonant? Trying to do so certainly isn't
RATIONAL. I see this lack of rationalism (this irrationalism) as odd
coming from atheists who pride themselves on being so dang rational.

If in fact nature is all there is - Naturalism - then all claims to moral
truth are the stuff of fantasy and mythology. Thomas Jefferson becomes a
myth maker in his argument for unalienable human rights in the Declaration
of Independence. And this Declaration, like that of the UN's Declaration
on Human Rights, becomes a profession of faith in a fantasy, a fairy tale,
a myth. The UN's assumes moral objectivism.

These declarations aren't rational. If they were we would not have to
*declare* them the stuff of reality that is somehow a part of the human
condition. If human rights and evil behavior are real then, for lack of a
better word, they are supernatural. They are something other than natural.

I have seen atheists us examples from human behavior and interaction
(child rape, forbidding gay marriage, etc.) as an appeal to reason for the
reality of evil coming from another. But when you press these atheists for
a rational argument for their existence of evil, like theists, they can't
do it. They can't because they'd have to prove nature is in fact moral and
endows at least one creature with a Right. Their using examples from human
interaction as an appeal to reason is very much the same as IDers using
examples from nature as an appeal to reason for an intelligently designed
creation. Therein is your faith, Yang. Welcome to the community faith
believers. Your Euthyphro supernaturalism only disregards belief in gods.

Fat chance of that happening. In fact if they were compatible it'd be

Atheists like to point to the Euthyphro dilemma as an argument against
god or that god isn't needed for morality. Far enough BUT there is still
a problem that atheists don't like to deal with, namely moral reality.
The Euthyphro dilemma, not unlike yourself and other atheists, assumes
moral objectivism. Naturalism gets in the way of moral objectivism.

I have yet to meet an atheist who didn't think of themselves as both a
naturalist and a humanist.

Naturalism holds that nature is the only reality. There is no
supernatural anything and everything in theory can be explained by
natural means. So....unless you can give a rational argument to the
contrary there is no such thing as moral objectivism (aka moral realism).

Moral progress cannot be real, and humans do not posses some kind of
human right to anything since nature doesn't endow anything with a right
to its life let alone a liberal, happy one. Evil isn't real. There are
only differences in opinions about how one and others should live a moral
life. But!!! Without morality being real all moral opinions are just
differences in individual preferences. One's opinions aren't better or
worst than any other's opinion. If an opinion could better then morality
would have truth value and naturalism cannot be the natural of reality.
Your moral opinion is no better than that of the KKK. Yeah, I know you
don't *believe* that.

Humanism holds:

Morality is cognitive in that moral statements DO have truth value -
"moral realism". Morality is objective and we can determine if
individuals and/or cultures violate a culturally independent or universal
moral standard. Morality isn't merely a culture's code of conduct but a
real fact by which can be determined how close that code conforms to this
universal standard. The closer the culture's code moves toward this
standard the more progressive is its moral progress. Moral progress,
then, is real. Moral opinions can in fact be determined to be better or
worst and another's. It means cultures and individuals can violate human
rights. Somehow, humans are in fact entitled to (endow) with human
rights.

Yet we managed to hang a few Nazis for killing Jews after WWII for violating
the Jews Human Rights.
Humans invented civil rights and cultual codes of conduct. That we can prove
because those rights are relative to the culture. To naturalism there is no
such thing as the culturally-independent moral realism in human rights.
Rights (and wrongs) can only be rational within the context (the relativism)
of a given culture. What is a civil right in the USA may not be a right in,
say, Iran. The right simply doesn't exist. The cultrual moral code is simply
different. An atheist could go into Iran and get stoned or jailed but no
right is violated since in Iran you must belong to a sanctioned religion to
first be granted any right. No right, human or civil, would be violated if
an atheist is stoned in Iran. The Jews likewise had no right living in Nazi
Germany.
To Naturalism humanism is as much an invented mythology as any religion.
