I liked Derbyshire's "just make a run at him" approach. I want to do an

Well, unless neo cons are only a tenth of a percent of americans or
less, no doubt there were at least a couple of neo cons or more faced
with the bad guy and apparently they ducked and ran like everyone else.

I just adore how people who have never been in a firefight or combat
situation before criticize those who didn't react courageously. I've
heard similar comments about how they should all have rushed the
gunman, knowing that a few of them would be shot and killed, because
it was the "courageous" thing to do.
I've stood behind a LAV4 with two dozen equally armed, equally
armoured Canadian soldiers, and I still nearly ***** myself when the
first gunshot goes out regardless of the fact that I'm expecting
trouble; I can't even imagine what it must feel like when you're
unarmed, in your dorm room sweats, not expecting anything horrible to
happen.
If any humour can be taken from this situation, it's that the
wonderful self-preservation instinct programmed into all of us -
courtesy of evolution - showed itself during the shooting rampage. In
criticizing the students who ran for their lives, Republicans
identified proof for evolution. Strange world, no?
