Object: Roy Moore - Associate Justice SCOTUS ?
Should President Bush nominate the former chief justice of Alabama, the
Senate would have no plausible reason to reject his appointment. He is
a highly qualified, highly experienced jurist who's integrity is
without question. America would be priviledged to have Judge Moore
serve.

WASHINGTON - A group called the Conservative Caucus this week said
the only man qualified to replace outgoing Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
is Roy Moore, former chief justice of Alabama, best known for refusing
to follow a federal order to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments
from the state courthouse.
Wearing Ten Commandments pins on their lapels at a news conference,
speakers said O'Connor was not the "great American" deserving of a hug,
as President Bush had said when she announced her retirement, but
someone whose judicial philosophy concerning abortion rights was
summarized as: "If it helps your career, then kill your baby."
Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, assumed to be Bush's personal
favorite to replace O'Connor, was described as a "big step backward."
Moore was not there, except as a portrait smiling up from dozens of
copies of his book, "So Help Me God," spread around the table.
"A national hero to millions," Howard Phillips, chairman of the
Conservative Caucus, says of Moore. "The great patriot, that exemplary
jurist, God's man for these times."

Except for being a nutcase with no respect for either the United States
Constitution or the rule of law who got thrown off the bench by his own
state's Supreme Court. Alabama no less.

Do I sense a little anti-southern bigotry?

If Bush selects him then his integrity is certainly open to question.

That's the same person who broke his vow to God and mankind in order to
force other people to accept his religion.
Obviously a man of NO integrity.
